Daredevil Review

These opinions were created by me (JB) and only me- they do not influence the opinions of any of the OP:SB staff, except, well, myself.

I had wishy-washy feelings when it came to Daredevil. Eventually, I was drawn to the 'liked it' side. I mean, there was too much good stuff to be fixated on the bad! The acting was wonderful, special effects were great, and even though the story line could use a little help- it was pretty darn good!

The characters were probably my favorite part of the Daredevil movie. The way the actors portrayed the characters was wonderful. I've seen some of the comic books and the characters not only look, but remind me of the comic book stars. Who cares about the costume they were- how an actor resembles a character is based on personallity.

Of course, we'll start out with my favorite character- Elektra. Jennifer Garner played this character so well. Even though she wasn't in Elektra-mode for very long, Jennifer was very impressive as the Greek goddess. Every scene she was in was awesome- she looked great, had wonderful emotions, and was all around great. My favorite two scenes- I guess I have to pick some- were the scenes in the park and the scene where Elektra was fighting with the bags of sands. Jennifer Garner must have practiced very hard to use those sais. Can you believe how good she was? Those are officially the coolest weapon ever. Screw guns! Also, Jennifer looked sexy in each outfit she was in! I loved the elegant silver dress- that was wonderful- and I also liked the outfit she wore in the park. The original costume wasn't that bad- Jennifer Garner could have pulled it off without looking slutty- but I liked the black one better. To some everything up- I guess I was Elektra-fied.

My second favorite character/actor was Colin Farrel as Bullseye. I mean, this guy was totally crazy! He freaking rode around standing on his motorcycle! The way he could kill people with just a paper clip or a peanut- that was nuts! The quick talking actor's accent made his character even cooler, I could have carred a less about his about his costume. To be honest, the blue spandex suit was CORNY! I'm so glad they changed the character's costume. Colin Farrel is the new "it-guy" and I think this role definately gave him a push to his bad ass reputation.

Michael Clark Duncan was the man who played Kingpin. He most resembled his character of the Kingpin. A bug, bulky guy and his voice was loud as ever! His character was so cool! I mean, ruler of all crime and he can kick ass massive! It was great. His little thing with the rose was interesting too- I never would have thought of something like that. I guess it's cool. He wasn't in the movie much- he was creepy when he talked about Elektra.

Finally, last but not least, was Daredevil/Ben Affleck. He wasn't my favorite character, but that doesn't me he did a bad job. Ben did good as a blind man- very convincing- and his eyes were just awesome! The way he acted around Elektra was great and he was quiet comical. He did a pretty good job for the script he was given. His outfit was cool too. The whole "biker" look made him tougher. He was good as the lawyer too. He didn't act stupid or whine like no other- it was just his character was written a tad bit annoying. I'm not sure why, but he just was. When he was with his friend (I'm sorry I forget his name) it was halerious! I couldn't believe some of the things they said together!

The special effects were so cool. The only one that really pissed me off was the scene in which Ben flew from one rooftop to the other and landed with just a little bump and roll. Jennifer jumped better though- when she jumped from roof to roof she was almost doing the splits and it was halfway realistic. The other special effects were cool too, like when Ben would jump off a building or when Colin would break a window. The were all cool. The effects in which someone was hurt (i.e. ELEKTRA GETTING GUTTED) were seriously realistic. Some of it was so gross!

I think I've talked about the costumes, but I'll put another thing on it. This is just about the costumes they wear during their "crime fighting." Elektra didn't wear her costume as much as I though she would- only in one scene. It was a very cool costume though, all the signs and special peices. The original costume that Elektra wears is somewhat slutty, but I feel Jennifer Garner's was cooler. I mean, it gave the movie a darker, scarier feel. Very nice. Ben's costume was pretty cool too, I guess. It was like, red leather, with a biker feel. The mask was cool too- little horns! Bullseye's long coat was indifferent. I mean, people wear coats. The scar was the greatest part though. So some people think it's a little gross, but I though it was cool. Last, Kingpin just wore very nice tuxs to show his wealth.

As you see, the good things in this movie out-show the bad things. The characters, plot, and special effects were great- so go see it!
