One of the three girls summoned from Tokyo Tower to become a Legendary Magic Knight, Hikaru is the shortest of the magic knights, often leading people to think she's about 11 years old when she's actually 14. Hikaru is the most enthusiastic as well as the most trusting of the three girls. Also the most energetic (when the three girls were climbing the mountain to get the wind shrine, Fuu commented "I wish Ihad been born as energetic"). Hikaru was the first one to learn magic. Her magic is fire based and she "pilots" the last Mashin the Knights awoke, the fire-god Rayearth, which took the shape of a lion before being awoken(well, they said it was a lion, although it kinda looked like a wolf/lion crossbreed.)
Family:
In Tokyo, she lives with her mother, her father, and her three older brothers--Satoru, Masaru, and Kakeru (one of the funniest scenes in the second series was when Masaru and Kakeru became a little over protective, claiming they would "beat up anyone who hits on Hikaru"). She also lives with her best freind and pet dog, Hikari. Hikaru's family owns a kendo school, so she's trained in kendo, which adds to her skill with swords (no wonder she can slice monsters in half so easily!) Her names means "Light of the Lion Shrine" in japanese.
Fuu Hououji
My favorite Magic Knight! Fuu is another one of the girls to be summoned by Princess Emeraude to become one of the Legendary Magic Knights. The brains of the outfit, Fuu often states the blatently obvious ("That is a monster") and has a somewhat morbid sense of humor, which I actually find pretty funny. The last one to learn magic, she controls wind spells. Her Mashin was the second to be awoken, the sky-god Windam, which took the form of a giant green pheonix.
In Cephiro, she gained a "boyfriend" in Ferio (some girls get all the cute guys!) Pehaps it was love as first sight, ne?
Family:
In Tokyo, she lives with her mother, father, and older sister Kuu (who seems a bit flighty at times. I guess it's obvious who got the brains in that family =^_^= ) She also participates in the archery club at her school. In Japanese, her name means "Wind of the Pheonix Temple."
Umi Ryuzaki
Umi is the tallest of the three Magic Knights. She has the shortest temper, and will often over react to the simplest things (in the manga, one of the first things she complains about upon arriving to Cephiro is being in a world without ice cream and fast food). Out of the three Magic Knights, she gets along worse with Mokona, and she often fights with him. Well, as much as you can fight with someone who has a one word vocabulary. =^_^= In one scene, Mokona and Umi were having a staring contest and Mokona kissed her, leading Umi to run around chasing "him" with a large mallet. Umi was the second to learn magic (her specialty is water), but the first one to awaken her Mashin, Selece; the ocean-god that takes the shape of a large blue dragon.
Family:
Back in Tokyo, she lives with her "Mama" and "Papa," being an only child. At her school, Umi is the captain of the fencing team. In Japanese, her name means "Ocean of the Dragon Blossom."
