June 1998 - September 1999

Hammy is the first pet I got after the untimely death of my guinea pigs. I got him on July 3rd 1998. He was 3 or 4 weeks old when I bought him. He was still to young to leave his mother, but he was just a fuzzy ball of cuteness and I had to have him :).

When I first got Hammy, we didn't name him Hammy. At first we thought he was a girl so we named him(her at the time) Aphrodite, the goddess of Love. We called her Ditie for short. As he grew up he "matured" in certain places that made us think, "Hmmm Girls aren't supposed to have those...." ;) We decided that Aphrodite was really a boy, so well we named her Hammy. I'm sure we could have thought of a better name if we new from the beginning that "she" was a "he", but still I think Hammy is the perfect name for Hammy.

After we concluded that Hammy was a boy I decided to get him a girlfriend. My mom and I went out to PetsMart and look at all the little girls, and finally picked out Hannah. Hammy and Hannah lived together of about 8 months, until Hannah turned on Hammy. I don't know why she did, but Hammy got hurt, so I separated them.

On one sad night in September 1999, I found Hammy dead in his little house. That was a horrible, horrible day. We buried him next to Okki and Obi and planted flowers on his grave. His cause of death is unknown, but I'm guessing that it was old age. I miss the little guy :(
