Prairie Dogs


Black-Tailed Prairie Dog
Cynomys ludovicianus

Size: Adults are 10 to 12 inches long and 3 to 4lbs.
Housing: Multi-level ferret cage is suitable. Must be at least 2'x 2'x 2' for one prairie dog.
Food: Vegetarian: fresh hay, grasses, fresh fruits & vegetables, rodent lab blocks, seeds & nuts (in moderation)
Lifespan: 8 to 12 years
Special Needs: Very social, requires lots of attention. Should be spayed or neutered. Can be litter box trained.
