"Sorry for the tight quarters," the boy told us as we began to march down a hallway in one straight line. Suddenly, we all stopped, and at the head of the line the young guy was knocking on a door. A little girl's face peeked through a crack.

"Is that them?" she whispered.

"That's them," he nodded. The door swung wide open, and he pushed his way in. "This will be where Ezra sleeps," he told us. "Which bags are hers?"

I looked at what I had. The duffle bag with ballet shoes all over it on my shoulder was definitely Ezra's. I took it off, and tossed it to the boy. He caught it and smiled at me. Ezra was zipping between our legs to get to her room. As we began our journey forth, I heard her yell, "AVIE!!!"

The next door we stopped at was a little bit further down. He kicked the door open, and stepped inside. I heard him mumble, "Can't you find somewhere else to do that?"

A few moments later, a girl and boy, their faces flushed, scrambled out of the room. Their hands were entwined in each other, and they were booking it to get past us. I stifled a giggle as they walked by. "This is where Joey and Sam are staying," he said. Bags were being passed to the front of the line, again, the two suitcases in my hands included. I found myself empty handed after we began to walk again.

"Wendie and Jack get the den," he said, as we went to the end of the hall, and came to a closed door. He pushed it open, and revealed a dark room. Wendie and Jack got their things from Nicky and the other guy, and left us with the remainder; our stuff. We headed back in the direction of the front door. However, instead of stopping at the door, we went on into the living room.

We kept on going, past the kitchen and into the garage. He went to a huge white door, and knocked on it. When there was no reply, he carefully opened it. "This way," he said, with a sweeping gesture.

We followed him down the stairs, and ended up in a big room with colorful walls. They were covered in cartoons. There were two twin beds on either end of the room, and an old, overstuffed orange couch sitting in the middle. In front of the couch was an old TV hooked up to a VCR and a playstation. To the left of the couch was a computer desk. The computer was on, and Windows had been brought up. The background was a giant roach.

"And you get to hang out down here with us," Zac said, looking at Nicky. His gaze drifted to me. "I'm sorry, did I not get you a room?"

I shook my head 'no'. He chewed on his bottom lip.

"Where did I leave Ezra?" he asked.

"In the girls' room," Nicky said. He cringed.

"And I left Joe and Sam in Mac's room, didn't I?" Nicky nodded.

"Your folks took the den," he squeaked. He gave me a sheepish grin.

"We'll have to take this matter to my mom," he said. "Come on."

Still holding onto my suitcases, I followed him back up the stairs. Nicky was right behind me. I could hear him giggling at me.
