J.T. BELKNAP of Killeen, TX, passed away on July 16, 2009,
three days short of his 97th birthday.
Jay was born in Carbon, TX, on July 19, 1912. He attended
Ranger High School in the Class of 1930 at Ranger, TX and
married Inez Pounds (RHS-1936) in Ranger, TX, in July of 1938.
They had been married for 69 years when Inez passed away on
February 12, 2008. A longtime resident of Irving, Texas, J.T.
worked as a welder for Lone Star Gas Co. for 38 years, retiring
in 1972 as a construction superintendent. After retirement, he
and Inez moved to Cedar Creek Lake, where they loved to fish and
garden and were actively involved in the First Baptist Church of
Gun Barrel City. In 2000, they then moved to Killeen and became
active in Skyline Baptist Church.
At the time of his death, J.T. was survived by children, Virginia
Cowley (RHS-1957) of Houston, Janice Odom (Jim) of Edinburg, Jim
Belknap (Pat) of Fort Worth, and Judy Parker (Mike) of Killeen;
sisters, Jo Hans (RHS-1939) of San Antonio, Norma Jetton (Kenneth)
of Clovis, NM, and Delpha Potter (Bill) of Belton; and brother-
in-law Adron Pounds of Arlington. He is also survived by grand-
children, Jeff Cowley (Kim), Bruce Cowley (Aimee), Jenny Berkheimer
(Kenny), Jim Odom (Jamie), Gail Hutchinson (Donny), John Parker
(Liz), Bryan Parker (Katrina) & Katy Parker; 11 great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Inez, he also was preceded in death by
parents John & Ruda Belknap, son Jerry Belknap (RHS-1959),
daughter Linda, brother Melvin Belknap (RHS-1930), and sisters
Lorene Belknap Akers (RHS-1927) and Veda Belknap Parrack (RHS-1934).
SISTER: NORMA JEAN BELKNAP JETTON, 89, of Clovis, NM
passed from this life peacefully on April 19, 2017, at her home,
with burial at the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clovis,
NM.
She was born on July 29, 1927, to the home of the late John &
Sim Ruda Virgie (Lauderdale) Belknap in Ranger, TX. She graduated
from grade school at Ranger in the Class of 1944 but no records
found that she attended Ranger High School. She married Kenneth
Jetton in Oct. of 1969, in Seminole, TX. Norma loved to cross
stitch and sew. She enjoyed working in the yard and loved going
camping, RV-ing, fishing and on occasion chasing bears. She also
enjoyed playing Skipbo with her family. She & her husband served
in the Baptist Mission Service Corps and was part of the Baptist
Disaster Relief Team. They were there to help others in need
during great devastations. Among all, she was a loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and Ma-In-Law.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her loving children;
Terry Lee Rash and wife Sharon of San Antonio, TX, Debra Noorda
and husband Brent of Saint George, UT, Gary Wayne Rash of Oberlin,
KS, Sandra Fullerton and husband Thurman of Clovis, and Tammy
Jetton of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth; her son
Kenneth Harold Rash; and numerous siblings.
