PAUL ADKINS, 97, of Emerald Bay, TX passed away on
July 17, 2014 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born Oct. 17, 1916 in Loraine, TX to Robert
Lee & Laura Addie Whitten Atkins. Paul attended
Ranger High School in the Class of 1935 at Ranger,
TX. Mr. Adkins joined the military after graduating
from high school and was a first sergeant with the
U.S. Army during WWII. He then moved to Houston where
he worked for Hughes Tool Company as a refrigerator
foreman before moving to Alaska where he met his wife,
Mildred. He lived in Alaska for 14 years while working
as a foreman for a cold storage plant in Anchorage. In
l978, Paul & Mildred moved to Emerald Bay for retirement.
Among the many things he enjoyed, his favorite was
playing golf with the "Golden Tees" group. He boasted
of his two holes in one that he made while playing at
Emerald Bay.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters
and four brothers. Louise Adkins Thomas (RHS-1944) was
his sister and G.W. Adkins (RHS-1941) was his brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mildred;
as well as four nieces & nephews and many close friends.
