G. WYANL "WIMPY" ADKINS, 92, of Emerald Bay went
to meet his Lord and Savior on July 5, 2013, in
Tyler, TX, with burial at the Cathedral in the
Pines Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Gorman to the late
Robert Lee & Laura Adeline Whitten Adkins. He
attended Ranger High School at Ranger, TX and
was president of his Class of 1941. He retired
as a manager for Fina Petroleum & was a longtime
member of Marvin United Methodist Church. His
greatest love other than his family was golf.
He was a member of the Ranger Ex's in Ranger and
the Golden Tees at Emerald Bay.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50
years, Guy Lindsey Adkins, by his second wife of
10 years, Polly Seymour Blackwell Adkins (RHS-
1941), and by eight siblings. His sister was
Louise Adkins Thomas (RHS-1944).
Survivors are a brother and sister-in-law, Paul
Adkins (RHS-1935) and Millie Adkins, of Bullard;
a step-daughter, Melissa Spikes & her husband Dwayne;
nieces and nephews, Mickey Cox, Ann Farr & husband
Paul, Elaine McGee and husband Jerry, & Bob Adkins;
and many other nieces and nephews.
WIFE: GUY E. ADKINS, 79, was born Sept. 7, 1917
and died Jan. 20, 1997, while living at Bullard,
TX. She was the first wife of G. Wyanl Adkins (RHS-
1941).
