EVERETT MARTIN DONOWHO, 59, died on June 24,
1976, with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in
Denton, TX.
He was born June 17, 1917, in Zephyr, TX the son
of Jack & Arora Donowho. He attended Ranger High
School in the Class of 1936 at Ranger, TX. He
married June Edwards in Oct. of 1941 in Cisco.
Everett was a graduate of North Texas State
University & was a member of the First Baptist
Church.
Mr. Donowho retired from the U.S. Air Force in
1966 and was later a math teacher at Congress
Jr. High School for 13 years until his death.
Survivors at the time of his death include his
wife, June, of Denton, two sons Robert Donowho of
Denton and Dr. Everett M. Donowho, Jr., of San
Antonio, two daughters Veva Vonler and Joy Donowho
both of Denton; five brothers, Thurman Donowho of
Houston, Bill Donowho of Sheffield, Joe Donowho
(RHS-1932), Dan Donowho (RHS-1933) of Denison &
Calvin Donowho of Alvin, two sisters, Ruth Donowho
Supulver (RHS-1937) of Fort Worth & Opal Donowho
Swaim of Denison and three grandchildren.
Everett was a member of the RHS championship football
team of 1934 (shirt no.46, a tackle) who also played
in the first Sun Bowl game in El Paso, TX in 1935.
Living south of Ranger on their farm, he was furnished
a bed at the Ranger Fire Station and a meal ticket at
one of the cafes so he could be available for football
practice.
He served two years in England & 6 months in Russia
after D-Day for the shuttle flights the bombers were
making.
He was assigned to North Texas University in 1951 to
attend Air Force ROTC. Transferred to Okinawa for two
and one half years in 1954. Returned to Denton where
he retired from the Air Force after 30 years as a CWO11.
The cadets & school officials honored him with a parade.
