INEZ FALLS HUNT passed away peacefully on Aug. 11,
2016, at her home in Arlington, TX at the age of 98.
All who knew Inez were blessed with her faithful and
loving spirit. Those of us close to her enjoyed her
warm sense of humor. Interment was at Merriman Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Inez was born on the Falls family farm in Merriman
community of Eastland County, the first child of
Phillip & Etta Falls. She attended the rural school
of Lone Cedar and graduated from Ranger High School
at Ranger, TX in 1936. She graduated from Ranger Jr.
College in 1938 with an associate degree in education,
and then worked as the registrar for Ranger High School.
Inez married J.M. Hunt (RHS-1934) in 1940 and moved to
Lubbock. They then lived in California where he began
his career in the aircraft industry. As a young couple,
they returned to Texas just before the birth of their
first child. She had lived in Arlington since 1957.
After her mother passed, Inez wanted to keep her large
extended family connected. With the help of her siblings,
she started the annual Falls Family Reunion at Lake Leon.
Her most enjoyable and fulfilling times were spent with
family at the lake house. Inez was active in the Ranger
Ex-Student Association, hosting holiday parties and
publishing their newsletter since 1983. She had been
repeatedly honored by the association, receiving the
Alumni of the Year Award and the President's Award for
Lifetime Achievement. She had been a member of the
Arlington Woman's Club since 1967, participating in
the Art & Design Department. She was an active member
of Hillcrest Park Baptist Church for 50 years and later
a member of Woods Chapel Baptist Church.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. Hunt, in
1982; siblings, George Falls (RHS-1940) and wife, Chrystal,
of Ranger, Thomas Falls (RHS-1947) and wife, Margie Anderson
(RHS-1948), of Lake Charles, LA, Jamie Falls Floyd (RHS-1940)
of Monahans, Frances Falls Dickinson (RHS-1942) and husband,
