JAMIE CATHERINE FALLS FLOYD, 82, of Monahans,
TX, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening
of Dec. 11, 2005, after a long battle with non-
Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Jamie was born Dec. 17, 1922, in the Merriman
Community of Eastland County, TX, to Phillip and
Etta Falls. Jamie joined the Merriman Baptist Church
at age 14. She was a member of the Monahans First
Baptist Church when she died. Jamie graduated from
Ranger High School in 1940 and Ranger Jr. College
in 1942. She was an active member of the Ranger Ex-
Students Association. She married Claude R. Floyd
(RHS-1940) in Oct. of 1944, in Ranger, TX while he
was in service in the Coast Guard. She was a home-
maker and a professional seamstress. She and Claude
spent their retirement traveling by R.V. over Central
and Western United States. For the last 25 years,
Jamie and her sisters made annual vacation trips
to places like Florida and Hawaii.
Jamie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Claude
R. Floyd (RHS-1940). Her three sons and their wives:
Billy Wayne and Brenda, Richard Eugene and Kathy, and
Gregory Hal and Elidia; three brothers and their wives:
George (RHS–1940) and Chrystal Falls of Ranger, Thomas
Falls (RHS–1947) and Margie Falls of Lake Charles, LA,
and Owen (RHS–1949) and Pat Falls of Springtown; three
sisters, Inez Falls Hunt (RHS–1936) of Arlington, Mabel
Falls Ramsey (RHS–1938) of Tyler, and Frances Dickinson
(RHS–1942) of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived
by eight grandchildren.
