WILBUR DEAN ERVIN, 75, son of Mr. & Mrs. R.O. Ervin
of Ranger, was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Goldthwaite, TX.
He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1941
at Ranger, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He entered the service in 1943. Pvt. Ervin trained at
Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells & Camp Callan in San Diego
and had overseas service in Burma. He is a graduate of
Ranger High School and attended Ranger Junior College.
Prior to entering the service he was employed by the
Texas and Pacific Railway in Ranger. His brothers,
Donald and James L. Erviln, both in the RHS Class of
1939, and other brothers Buford Gail Ervin (RHS-1942)
and Max A. Ervin (RHS-1944).
He married Barbara Ferguson in July of 1952 in Dallas.
He retired from the T&P Railway in 1984 after 41 years'
service, beginning as a Telegraph Operator and retiring
as Wire Chief Manager. He was an Elder for many years
at the First Christian Church and was a 50-year member
of the Masonic Lodge of Ranger. He had one daughter,
Donna Reed; and three sons, Gary Ervin, Dan Ervin, and
Neal Ervin.
He died June 12, 1999, at the age of 75 at Big Spring,
TX, with interment at Trinity Memorial Park.
