JEAN MCCLESKEY HERWECK, 79, passed away on Oct. 9,
2004 in Abilene, TX where she resided since 2000, with
burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Jean was born on Jan. 21, 1925 in Ranger, TX to Roy
and Josephine Bishop Strong McCleskey. She spent all
of her life in Ranger and attended Ranger Schools. She
married Millard "Herf" Herweck (RHS-1938) in October of
1941 in Breckenridge, TX and he preceded her in death on
August 17, 1997. They owned and operated Ranger Mattress
Factory for many years. She was involved in the leadership
of the district PTA in Central Texas for several years,
instrumental in rejuvenating the Ranger Bulldog Booster
Club and was known to many as "Mama Jean". She was also
a Charter member of the Eastside Baptist Church of which
she and her husband helped establish. She later moved her
membership to First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Herweck is survived by sons Mel Herweck (RHS-1963)
and wife Elaine of Hawley, TX., and Rich Herweck (RHS-1964)
of Shady Shore near Denton, TX. A daughter Mary Anna King
(RHS-1964) of Ranger, TX. Nine grandchildren & nine great-
grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by a brother Royce McCleskey
(RHS-1941) and sister Margaret Jo (RHS-1939).
