MARY ANNA HERWECK KING, 65, of Ranger, TX
passed away on April 4, 2010 in Ranger,
burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
Mary was born in Ranger on Dec. 7, 1944 to
Milard Herweck (RHS-1938) and Doris McClesky
(RHS-1941) Herweck. She attended St. Rita’s
preschool in Ranger then Young Elementary and
graduated from Ranger High School in 1964. She
was a leading scorer in the 1st RHS Lady Bulldog
Basketball team with her famous Granny Free-
throw. She also ran track and won every
Intramural event she was in. Mary attended
the Stephenville School of Nursing in 1966
through 1967. She was a loving and caring
person. Mary loved giving cards to many
people. She had a wonderful personality
and loved sharing her stories with her
friends. Mary also attended Ranger Jr.
College.
She is survived by her son, James King and
wife Sandra of Temple, TX, daughter, Deborah
Root of Belton, TX, brothers, Rich Herweck
(RHS-1964) and wife Karen of Dripping Springs,
TX, and Mel Herweck (RHS-1963) and wife Elaine
of Hawley, TX, five grandchildren, Christopher
Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Tyler Packwood,
Julian King and Heather Root and numerous
nieces, nephews and friends.
