BOBBY RAY HAZARD, 64, died in July of 1993.
He was born in 1929 and attended Ranger schools,
Cooper, Young and Ranger High School in Ranger, TX
before leaving in 1947 to join the 11th Army Airborne.
He saw action in N. Korea & was stationed in Occupied
Japan before being discharged in 1951 having served
four years. In 1952, Bobby married Betty Jean Falls
(RHS-1948). They had four children and lived in
Breckenridge until 1964 when they moved to Odessa
where they lived until Bob's death in 1993. His
mother was Bertha Moats Hazard, longtime resident
of Ranger.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his
mother, wife, four children & eight grandchildren.
MOTHER: BERTHA MARIE MOATS HAZARD, 95,
passed away on Nov. 10, 2008 in Weatherford, TX,
with burial in Merriman Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Bertha was born March 10, 1913 in Thurber, TX,
to Melson & Josephine Kelley Moats. She attended
school in Thurber & Ranger. She married George
Hazard, Sr. and they made their home in the
Ranger area. She worked for Montgomery Ward &
Brays Department Store. She later worked at
Ranger College. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church. She lived near her daughter in
Weatherford for the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and
three sons, Bob Hazard (RHS-1948), George Hazard,
Jr. (RHS-1951) & Jack Hazard (RHS-1960).
She is survived by: a daughter, Deanne Carter
(RHS-1957) and husband Roddy (RHS-1954), of
Weatherford, daughters-in-law, Ella & Shirley
Hazard of Sweetwater & Betty Hazard of Odessa;
12 grandchildren & 38 great and great-great-
grandchildren.
