GEORGE W. HAZARD, JR., 69, of Sweetwater, TX died
on Sept. 23, 2002 in Abilene, with burial in the
Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born Dec. 1, 1932 in Ranger, TX, he was the son of
Bertha Cessna & George W. Hazard, Sr. He attended
Ranger High School in the Class of 1951 & married
Ella Sandefur in Sept. of 1953 in Ranger. He worked
for The Ranger Times for seven years & the Sweetwater
Reporter for 26 years as production manager. He also
had owned and operated George Hazard Printing Co.
since 1984. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict,
an avid fisherman and attended Trinity Baptist Church.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife,
Ella Hazard of Sweetwater; two sons, Gary Hazard and
wife, Sabra and Mike Hazard and wife, Vanessa all of
Sweetwater; two daughters, Nancy Mosley and husband,
Reggie, of Fort Worth, and Beverly Nash and husband,
John, of Rotan; his mother, Bertha Hazard of Weatherford;
one sister, Deanne Carter (RHS-1957) of Weatherford;
13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; & several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W.
Hazard Sr.; and, two brothers, Jack N. Hazard (RHS-
1960) & Bobby Ray Hazard (RHS-1948).
WIFE: ELLA MAE SANDEFUR HAZARD, 80, of Sweetwater,
TX passed away June 26, 2015 in Sweetwater, with burial
at the Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born Aug. 29, 1934 in Strawn, TX, she was the daughter
of the late Willie Henry & Dorsett Isabell Sandefur.
She married the love of her life, George William Hazard
(RHS-1951) in Sept. of 1953, at Ranger. Together they
had four children who they lovingly adored.
Ella was an example to all she touched. She was a long-
time member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught
Sunday school for countless years, as well as serving
on numerous committees. Her faith was an example to all.
She embodied what it was to be a Proverbs 31 woman. Her
most cherished times were those spent with her beloved
family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, her soap
operas, as well as assisting George in his print shop.
Her loving spirit will truly be missed by all she touched.
One of her proudest roles was that of grandmother to her
13 beloved grandchildren. She and George left a lasting
legacy that will surely be passed on for generations to
come.
At the time of her death, she was survived by 4 children;
two sons, Gary Hazard, Mike Hazard and wife, Vanessa, all
of Sweetwater and two daughters, Nancy Mosley and husband,
Reggie, of Fort Worth and Beverly Nash and husband Johnny,
of Rotan; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and
another great-grandchild on the way.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,
Raymond and Richard Sandefur; & a sister, Joyce Thornton.
