E.W. "DICK" EVERETT, 65, was President of the
Ranger High School Class of 1948 in Ranger, TX.
His brother was Acker Everett (RHS-1953).
Dick was born Dec. 18, 1928, to Richard C. and
Lura Gibson Everett in Eastland County. After a
courageous battle with prostate cancer he died at
home in Montana on March 15, 1994. He was cremated
and his ashes were scattered on a favorite spot near
Arrastra Creek in Montana.
After high school he lived in California with Jerry
Gray, a Ranger classmate who also graduated in 1948.
He then spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a rated
engine-man and received an honorable discharge. While
in the Navy and home-ported in San Diego, he met
Dorothy Gobin who lived in San Bernadino. They were
married there in Nov. of 1952 and continued to live
in San Bernadino where Dick was active in little
league baseball and scouting. They had two sons and
one daughter.
After 23 years with the California Department of Motor
Vehicles (Drivers License Division), he retired as
Manager of the Palm Springs office. After his retirement,
Dick and Dorothy moved to Missouri, Montana, where they
traveled extensively and enjoyed the property they owned
in the Arrastra Creek area.
Dick was survived by his widow, Dorothy Everett, his
daughter Nancy Holbert and a son, Gregory W. Everett,
all of Missoula, Montana and a son, Richard W. Everett
of Crestline, CA. He is also survived by a sister
Vera McKee of Englewood, CA, and the brother Acker
Everett (RHS-1953) who lives in Dewey, AZ.
