LORAN ELZY BLACK, 85, passed from this life on
Jan. 9, 2016, with burial at the New Gordon Cemetery
in Gordon, TX.
Loran was born Oct. 29, 1930 to John L. & Callie
Black in Abilene, TX. He attended school at Ranger,
TX in the Class of 1948. Loran married Anita June
Griffin in July of 1952 in Abilene. He was a master
builder and spent most of his life working in con-
struction, most recently as a field superintendent
for Ambienti U.S.A., INC.
Those that will miss him most are his wife of 64
years, Anita, two sons, David Black and Michael
Black and wife Nancy. He is also survived by one
brother Ealy Black and wife Mary, sister, Martha
Vittrup and husband Tom, 6 grandchildren, and 12
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents John &
Callie, four brothers; Harvey, Alfred, Johnny, &
John Paul, and two sisters; Marion Genelle Black
Roberson (RHS-1956) and Linda Black Wimprine
(RHS-1959).
WIFE: ANITA JUNE GRIFFIN BLACK departed this
earth on April 6, 2024 with her loving family by her
side in Grand Prairie, TX, with burial in the New
Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, TX.
Anita was born on Sept. 13, 1936, in Pawhuska, OK to
Marvin & Gladys Griffin. She married the love of her
life Loran E. Black (RHS-1948) in July of 1951. They
had two loving sons. Because of their love of children,
they helped raise many more children, including one
they called their very own daughter.
Anita was a devoted christian who loved the Lord with
all her heart and praised him daily.
Anita was proceeded in death by her husband Loran Black,
her father Marvin Griffin, her mother Gladys Griffin,
her oldest brother Charles Griffin, and her younger
brother Jerry Griffin.
She is survived by her children, David Black of Weatherford,
TX, Michael (Nancy) Black of Grand Prairie, TX, Barbara
(Larry) Morris of Jonestown, TX, a brother Scotty Griffin
of Bryan, TX, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren,
3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.
