CHARLES HENRY GILBERT was born on Feb. 21, 1943,
in Memphis, TX, and his family moved to Ranger in
1957. He attended school in Ranger and was in the
Class of 1962. Gilbert, 37, of Bridgeport and formerly
of Ranger was killed in Richardson on June 4, 1980 in
a trucking accident. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery
at Ranger, TX.
He was the son of Viola Beatrice Barton and Onis Marion
"Jack" Gilbert of Ranger. Charlie lived most of his
life in Ranger and had moved to Bridgeport recently. He
served in the U.S. Navy & was a member of the Mesquite
& Rusk Church of Christ.
He was survived by his wife Phyllis Gilbert and one daughter,
Charlena Kay Gilbert, both of Bridgeport; his parents; three
brother's, Ronald Dean and Joe Allen (RHS-1969) both of Ranger,
and Onis Marion Gilbert Jr. of Palacios; and five sister's,
Starlene Boyett and Kay Gilbert New (RHS-1965) of Abilene;
Connie Gilbert Hamlin (RHS-1967) of Palacios; Debbie Gilbert
Williamson of Beaumont; and Shannon Holmes of Ranger. A
brother Donald Gilbert (RHS-1971) is deceased.
