DONALD GILBERT was killed in a one vehicle accident,
on Sept. 20, 1969 near Ranger, TX on Morton Valley
highway. He had fallen asleep at the wheel and veered
off the road, hitting a tree. He was 16, beginning his
Junior year at school in the Ranger High School Class
of 1971. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
Donald was born on April 11, 1953 in Lubbock, the son
of Viola Beatrice Barton & O.M. "Jack" Gilbert. The
Gilbert family moved to Ranger in 1957. Donald was
employed with a construction company out of Goldthwaite
at the time of his death.
He was survived by his parents and four brothers and five
sisters including sisters: Starlene and Tommy Boyett of
Fort Worth; Kay and Jack Bodiford of Grand Prairie; Connie
and Kenneth Hamlin of Palacios; Deborah Gilbert (RHS-1972)
and Shannon Gilbert (RHS-1983) of Ranger; brothers, Marion
of Fort Worth; Charlie (RHS-1962) of Odessa; Joe Gilbert
(RHS-1969) and twin brother Ronald Gilbert of Ranger.
