PHYLLIS JEAN CAMPBELL NASH, 56, of Ranger,
TX passed away on May 26, 2004 at her home, with
burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
Phyllis was born on Sept. 25, 1947 in Newport, AR
to Floyd M. and Ora Mae (Simcox) Campbell. She
graduated from Ranger School and Ranger College
where she studied to be an LVN. She worked for 24
years in health care as a nurse at the Ranger General
Hospital, Eastland Nursing Homes, and private duty
nursing. She married James A. Nash in Aug. of 1964
in Provencal, LA. She was affiliated with the Church
of Christ.
At the time of her death, she was survived by husband,
Jim Nash of Ranger; mother, Ora Mae Simcox of Ranger;
son, Joe Nash (RHS-1986) and wife Bonnie of Ranger;
brothers, Donald Edwards of Ranger, Steve Lewis of
Ranger, Kenneth Edwards of New Orleans, LA, Dennis
Edwards of Waco, and Donald Campbell of Midlothian;
sisters, Celita White of St. Louis, MO, Janet Ballard
of Morningsport, LA, and Alma Vigil of Alamosa, CO;
grandchildren, Stephanie Diane Nash, Justin Monroe
Nash, and Brian Mikeal Nash all of Ranger; & numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and son,
Michael Nash (RHS-1990). Note: Her brother, Donald
G. Edwards, passed away on Nov. 12, 2022 at the age
of 72.
HUSBAND: JAMES "JIM" A. NASH, 78, went to be
with his Heavenly Father on Aug. 17, 2023. He passed
at his home in Holden, LA, surrounded by loved ones.
Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1945 in Provencal, LA to Joseph
Alvin Nash & Annie Mae (Baines) Nash. James was a long-
time resident and handyman with a tree service in Ranger,
TX. He proudly served Eastland County and the surrounding
areas including neighbors and friends with kindness and
professionalism. The bond that James had with all of his
customers was extraordinary. He developed many friendships
along the way that made them feel like family. James
employed many young people through the years in which he
instilled great work ethics and a deep love for their
fellow man and families. James proudly and honorably
served our country in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia (Roberts) Nash;
son: Joseph (Joe) M. Nash and wife Melinda of Holden,
LA; grandchildren: Stephanie McClammy, Justin Nash
and wife Kortnie, Brian Nash, Heather Boudreaux and
husband Quinn, and Kayla Kinchen; 10 great-grand-
children; one brother: William David (W. D.) Nash
of Kansas, OK and one sister: Margie Nash Morgan of
Fort Worth, TX along with many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph
Alvin Nash and Annie Mae (Baines) Nash; wife of 39
years: Phyllis Jean Campbell Nash; son: Michael
James Nash; sisters: Verla Mae Nash Mitchell,
Audrey Nash Goins, Viviane Marjorie Nash and
Martha Elam Nash, Alvie Nash Corley; brothers:
Joseph Evestus Nash, John Thomas Nash and Gerald
Wayne Nash.
MOTHER: ORA MAE BARRONS SIMCOX, 77, passed
away on Jan. 22, 2006, with burial at Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
Mrs. Simcox was born in Newport, AR, on Oct. 18, 1928,
the daughter of Jesse James Barrons and Mary (Cook)
Barrons. Dear sister of Thurman Barrons of New Orleans,
LA, and Lily Knowles of Osyka, MS, the late Herman
Barrons, Elsora Barrons, Rosa Ovena Barrons-Wilson &
John Franklin Barrons. She was preceded in death by
her beloved daughter Phyllis Jean Nash (RHS-1966)
and grandson Michael Nash (RHS-1990) of Ranger.
She is survived by her children, Celita White and
husband Samuel of St. Louis, MO, Janet Ballard of
Mooringsport, LA, Donald Edwards & wife Yun, Steven
Lewis and wife Tammy, Kenneth Edwards and wife
Cheryl (decd-2020), all of Ranger, & Dennis Edwards
and wife Natalie of Waco, and Alma Vigil and husband
Aaron of Alamosa, CO. Dear mother-in-Law of James
Nash, the grandmother of 21 grandchildren, 22 great-
grand-children, 1 great-great-granddaughter, dear
aunt, cousin and friend to too many to list.
