Our Last Day Together - Saturday, July 28, 2001

Today is turn-in day. The day Comet graduates and we give him back to CCI for 6 to 9 more months of advanced training. We are sure he will do fine, but we miss him already! Every little thing we do, we think of it being our last time to do it. We visited some vineyards up in Temeculah, CA to pass the time without brooding in our motel room waiting. When we went inside the tasting room, one lady who worked there liked Comet a lot and asked her supervisor if she would be permitted to raise a puppy too. The supervisor said "I don't know why not - so YES!" We may have recruited another puppy raiser!

Now we are at the Mission San Luis Rey for the graduation ceremony. We took lots of pictures but many don't look too good. There were 56 puppies being turned in and 9 graduates. 3 were Texas puppies!!! Lots of crying going on, of course.

FLASH - Comet passed away January 10, 2011 from a very aggressive cancer. He almost made 11 years of age. His ashes will be shared with his Graduate family and his puppy raisers (us). Oh Comet, you were our first CCI puppy and we all will miss you terribly. But we know you are in a much better place now and we will see you soon. Have fun visiting with Lacey and Amstel and all the rest of our kids! Goodbye, sweet Comet.
