Trent addresses the Pig personally. Due to some events in the past (it doesn't matter what), Trent feels beaten down, and he is really not in the best of moods.

Trent sees himself as worthless. He does not care about anything, including himself. He realizes that he's a lot less vulnerable to the outside world when he doesn't care.

He resigns to the fact that he is a failure in life. He hopes the Pig can help him out, as sort of a last resort. His depression, low self-esteem, and failure, coupled with the Pig's urges and his decision not to care results in Trent's surrender to the Pig.
