Ruiner

Ruiner

Here, Trent is taking the next step in his self-destruction. He is speaking directly to Annie, projecting his problems onto her, trying to paint her in a negative light to make himself look better.

You had all of them on your side, didn't you?
You believed in all your lies, didn't you?

Trent has betrayed and lied to Annie, but he will never admit it. Instead, he acts as though she did that to him.

The ruiner's got a lot to prove
he's got nothing to lose
and now he made you believe
The ruiner's your only friend well he's
the living end to the cattle he deceives
The raping of the innocent you know
the ruiner ruins everything he sees
Now the only pure thing left in my
fucking world is wearing your disease

Trent, under the influence of the Pig, is the ruiner. He puts himself into a position of power by saying he has nothing to lose, and he is very upset with Annie because he believes that she has the problems he projected onto her, and he sees her as diseased.

How did you get so big?
How did you get so strong?
How did it get so hard?
How did it get so long?

Trent and Annie have never had really serious problems with their relationship, so Trent is a little taken aback at Annie's supposed betrayal toward him.

You had to give them all a sign, didn't you?
You had to covet what was mine, didn't you?
The ruiner's a collector he's an infector serving his shit to his flies
Maybe there will come a day when those you blind will suddenly realize
Maybe it's a part of me you took it to a place I hoped you would never go
And maybe that fucked me up much more than you'll ever know

Trent feels like Annie plans on leaving him and may be cheating (although she probably isn't). He's projecting his grasp for power onto her because of his suspicion. In other words, their relationship was originally based on equality. Trent tried to exert power over Annie, and now he believes that she is trying to gain power over him by being unfaithful to him. He's convinced of her infidelity, but part of him feels he brought it on himself.

How did you get so big?
How did you get so strong?
How did it get so hard?
How did it get so long?
What you gave to me
My perfect ring of scars
You know I can see what you really are

Now Trent is saying that Annie has scarred him, and he can now see that she's really not a good person.

You didn't hurt me nothing can hurt me
You didn't hurt me nothing can stop me now

Trent is employing his harsh exterior to prevent anything from harming him.
