      Jacob a.k.a. Josh

Back in the day our mother's had "brag books". Now we have "brag pages", and bragging is just what I'm gonna do. After you finish reading what I have to say about our oldest son you will have the complete opposite impression of the kind of person he REALLY is. This will be the page of things he doesn't mention. The things even his friends don't know about. The things that I like to call "mom" things. Some of the things that embarrass him, in other words.

This is a child who was born to entertain. As a baby he literally drew a crowd wherever we'd go. He had this laugh that would draw people from all over. And being the little HAM that he is, he played it for all it was worth!

He has always been one to push himself. I had no choice but to teach him. If I didn't... he would teach himself, even if it was the wrong way.
In kindergarten, he came home one day sooo mad at me. It seems I had taught him to spell everything wrong! You see, he was in the IBM Writing To Read program at school, where the kids are taught to spell phonetically! In kindergarten he was upset because he wasn't allowed to write in cursive at school. By first grade, I had to hide my calligraphy books because he was insisting that he wanted to do all of his school work in calligraphy.

There are things he doesn't mention to his friends...
      but I'm not him!

      hehehe

In his younger years he always went to the school's *U.I.L. competitions. He usually went for spelling.

One year he went in the "music memory" category. I have no idea how he could remember all of that!! (This is sort of like "Name That Tune" for classical music, except you also have to name the composer and all pertinent information.)

He has won many awards over the years including several from the United States Achievement Academy. (National Honor Roll - twice, English Merit Award, Science Merit Award, Leadership & Service Award, and All American Scholar)

Told ya I was gonna brag...

He was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students in 1999. But then again, isn't everybody?

He was a frequent guest columnist for his high school newspaper, mainly writing lengthy music reviews of the latest heavy metal albums. He was editor of his school's creative writing magazine in his senior year. He spent two years in debate, perfect for him since he LIVES to argue and never shuts up! :-)
Sounds like a real brain, huh? Actually, he lives for heavy metal music and 3/4 of his brain contains lyrics, tabs, and trivia.

He has a wonderfully twisted sense of humor and is currently spreading his vast wisdom and wit around Waco after graduating from the High Tech Institute in Phoenix, AZ in September of 2001, with a degree in Computer Networking and Internet Technology.

He played the sax in Jr. High but hasn't picked it up since. He plays guitar, bass guitar, and drums.

He spent 4 years as a
      Theatre Arts student.

He's a member of the International Thespian Society, and designed his school's I.T.S. web-page for 1998-1999.

He won best supporting actor twice. These days he's an active member of the Theatre Boosters.

      talk, talk, talk...
      Get his opinions!
      Get his reviews!
      Get inside his head!
      But don't say I didn't warn you!
