LEGACY
by
Isaac Saldaña
He came without a voice
And without a name
His arms only were extended
Into the circle of light
To the one standing within
Cradled gently in his hands
He held his enigmatic history
A tattered tartan
Surprisingly bright
For its age
Upon the checkered cloth
Sat a medal badge
Once worn proudly
On his tam
A worn design
On its face
Of a buckled garter
Inscribed with a foreign motto
Encircling a noble raven
Perched atop
A single castle tower
The offering accepted
With gratitude and wonder
Of what disgrace or glory
To which they are bound
Still to be discovered
