Splender/Shades Apart/Pound Show...
11/05/99 @ Deep Ellum Live in Dallas, Texas
After class, around 1p, picked up Meredith ("Mare") and headed for Dallas. Had a great convo!! Mare's been out of state forever - so we caught up!! :o) Dang Martin, missed her!! K - so, hello, I realized that I FORGOT the directions to the club - what a goober!! - So went on what I could member! NOT good - Hi!! I thought Deep Ellum was between Dallas and Denton! Got to Denton and stopped - DUH!!, it's downtown Dallas - oooooooppppppsssssss! So back to Dallas we went. Found the club around 6:3p. Searched for a nearby hotel to shack up. Got a room - peed and got purdied up! Headed out for din-din! Hello - downtown Dallas has NOTHING visible that was restauranty type. Fine, so we parked near the club and walked to a bar for food. Purdy tasty!So it's like 9:3p - we walk back to the club - Dude, heard a band - IT WAS POUND playing their last song!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!! WE MISSED POUND!!!!!! Totally sucked!! So fine - we'll just look for Jerry (Jolie promotes 'em, knows 'em and said gotta meet 'em)!! Nabbed Sandy (bass) and introd - Meet Pat (guitar), finally - there's Jerry (drummer). I introduced myself and discussed our mutual "friend". So I said my "sister" - hello, she is!!!! Just adopted each other!!
Anywise - he signed posters and stuff for peeps and we hooked up again before Shades Apart played! So we're (Mare, Jerry, & Me) just hangin' and talkin' and gettin' to know each other! Then Robert (behind the scenes guy for Pound) comes over and we're talking Jolie and stuff!! K - so we're all instant friends - it was great!! We're all peeing our pants, laughing, with Jerry and Robert! Fun guys!!! I'm also taking pix of Shades Apart on stage - I'm talented that way!! heehee
Then S.A. is done - they tare down ~Dude~ Sandy comes over freakin' out (to his brother - Robert) ~No comment~, that's as far as I'll go - he's gotta leave and go back to the hotel with their tour manager (cuz he's feeling sick). They leave. Jerry and Robert keep hanging with us at the bar! Splender comes on - ROCK OUT!!!!!!!! Took pix and joked around with Jerry and shit! Still peeing our pants!! Jerry's sister comes over, near the end of Splender - they chat for a bit & he signs some stuff - very nice girl!! Then the front-men of S.A. come over to talk with Jerry - we meet and greet - take pix!! Alrighty - about now Splender is done - the club peeps are all waving their flash lights and saying get out! - Auuuhhhh, parties over!! - :o(
Then Jerry says go around back and I'll meet you out there. We go back there and he comes out! We're just all talking about "home" and "life"! He is soooooooo open!! It's pretty cool and refreshing!! Here comes Pat, with his Pound sticker roll, hooks us up - he put a strip on Mare's and my chest and one on my butt (that was a big 'ol piece, heehee)! Whewwho!!!! I'm likin' it!! heehee :o) Marc (Splender drummer) comes out - he's all not feeling well - has a big 'ol blister on his thumb - ouchy!!! That was nasty!!!! So he's heading back to the hotel.
Later, the "Australian Guy" (with Shades Apart) comes over askin' about rides back to their hotel. Jerry's all I'll get a cab - I say NO WAY - We'll take you (our hotels were like 5 minutes from each other) - so he's all cool! Then Pat's all not fare! So I say you can come too. Pat was all I'm sooooooooooooo hungry, let's go eat. So we walk to my car and hop in!
First, Jerry wants to go check out the "Grassy Knoll" (where JFK was shot - Jerry's a major History buff), so we head over there! We start talking Pound, since we missed 'em and all, Mare hasn't ever heard them. I member that I have a sampler from Jolie, so Pat gets it out of the glove compartment and pops it in. He's all what's up with your "treble and bass", so he fixed it for me. Sounds much better now!!!!! DUDE, gotta warn ya - I'M A WILD DRIVER - Jerry's all OK - ONLY go on real streets - :o) Everything is ONE WAY downtown - hello, it's 1 AM, I'm going anyway!! heehee So we finally make it - ALIVE! It was sooooo freaky to be on the road that JFK was shot and killed on!!!!!! We walked the entire place - up the hill, checked out the fence, the buildings, etc (Took pix ...) Saw some couple "doing it"! Rice-A-Roni!!!!! (Pat was the finder, cuz he hid to take a pee and spotted 'em) Talked to strangers about their JFK theories - it was a blast!!!!!!! So now it's getting really late - Jerry and Pat are tired - Pat is starving and "- - - - - -" (he couldn't decide which was more powerful)! Jerry's like fuck food, I'm tired - so we head back to their hotel. We get sooooooo lost!! Finally find it!! Pat's all see ya, bye, soooooooo tired!! We say our byes - Jerry stays in the car for another hour and 1/2 or 2 hours - we all talk and talk and talk - OK, Jerry did most of the talking!!!! It was great, I have to say!! So, it's like 4AM - he's really tired, they've gotta leave at 9am that morning. So we say our byes - Mare and I head to the hotel for some zzzzzzzzzzzz's ...

Excellente!!!!!!! Loved 'em again!!!!!!! This time, I knew all the words!! :o) Howdy-do!! Marc took his shirt off - lordy, that boy has a body that won't quit!!! Waymon introduced Ruben (roadie) to all - POOR THING!!!! (no comment any further than that) K - so Splender kicked my ass again!!!!!!! Did I think any differently!!!!! NOPE!!!!!!!!!
