Chapter I: A Cross of Heroes...
~The Temple of Time, Hyrule, 17 Hyrulian Years~
"Thank you for visiting me, Link. I shall miss you. Please take good care of yourself!" Zelda said to Link, who is leaving for the past.
"Whenever I am needed, I will be here, Princess." Link said and then kissed Zelda gently.
"I will see you in the past!" Link added as a pillar of pure light engulfed him.
~Guardia Forest, Guardia, 600 A.D.~
"I will return to insure your safety, Queen Leene." Crono vowed to Leene, as he was leaving for the future.
"I bade thee well, Sir Crono!" Leene said while waving to Crono who is walking toward the time gate.
"I will return, but I have to go back to the future!" Crono yelled as he raises the Gate Key and steps into the gate.
~The Land of Ni, Ni, X~
Because of the stretching of the fabric of space-time by the use of 2 simultaneous time warps, Crono is transported to The Land of Ni, where he wonders where he is.
"Where...where am I? It's not Leene's Square..." said Crono as he looked around. Then, he spots a gate.
"Well, there's the gate I came out of...I think...besides, where else could it go?" Crono asked aloud as he stepped through the gate.
~The Temple of Time / Zelda's Garden, Hyrule, 10 H.Y.~
As the beam of light fades, Link and Crono are flung into the hard, stone walls of the temple and knocked cold. A shadowy figure then sneaks into the room.
"Ahh! Such a wonderful stone, like a rainbow...it will make a fine prize!" said a dark figure as it picked up a tossed stone. Hours pass as Link and Crono finally come to.
"Who goes there?" Link asked Crono.
"I'm Crono, from Guardia...and you?" Crono asked Link.
"I am Link of Hyrule, defender of Princess Zelda. Guardia? Where does that lie?" Link asked while rubbing a sore spot on his head.
"Well, it's like this...I was going back to my own time, 1000 A.D., when I was flung into a strange land...I attempted to continue my trip, only to end up here. But I need to get back! Can you help?" Crono said.
"I do not know...but Princess Zelda will advise us as to how to get you back to your realm." Link said. And with that, Link and Crono headed to Hyrule Castle, and eventually, Zelda's Garden.
"Princess, I have come to get advice for this lost traveler, Crono. He is out of his realm...Guardia...." Link said to Zelda who was sitting picking daisies.
"The only way to reach other realms using the Temple of Time is to hold an icon that maintains a link with the desired realm. Have you such an icon...what is your name, anyway?" Zelda asked.
"Crono, Princess. Crono of Guardia. I do have such an icon, the Rainbow Stone! It's right...right....It's gone! Oh, no! It's been stolen!" Crono yelled.
"The Gerudo..." Link mumbled, "Come Crono, we will retrieve your stone and send you back!" Link said as he and Crono left Zelda's Garden, with her well wishes, and traveled to Gerudo Valley.
