The Predacons are a group of five Decepticon warriors, who each transform into a wild beast. They made their first appearance during the time of the Decepticon/Quintesson Alliance, and it is presumed that they were built by the Quintessons, as the Decepticons, having been thrown off of Cybertron by the Autobots, were living on the planet Charr, and were very low on Energon, making it unlikely that they could have spared any to make new warriors. When the Predacons merged into their gestalt form of Predaking, they were all but unstoppable, cutting a swathe through the Autobot ranks, only to be defeat by Sky Lynx, creating a long-standing grudge between the Predacons and the egotistical Autobot.
Each of the individual Predacons are very powerful in their own right, and can combine their forms into that of a single warrior - Predaking, the most powerful of the gestalt Transformers at the time. While their intellect is higher than that of the Dinobots, for example, it is still considerably below the normal level of Transformers. However, it is NOT that the Predacons are STUPID, but rather, it is their animal instinct manifesting itself.
RAZORCLAW
Razorclaw is the leader of the Predacons, and is exceptionally ruthless and cunning. An effective commander of his forces, he resembles a lion in animal mode, able to leap the distance of a football field, run at 90mph and rip through soild steel with his claws in this mode.. He is equipped with with a sonic sword in robot mode, and two shoulder-mounted concussion blasters in both robot and animal mode. He forms Predaking's torso.
DIVEBOMB
Divebomb is the Predacons' aerial reconaissance and assault agent, resembling an eagle in animal mode. He dislikes his fellow Predacons, and detests sharing components with them. He is equipped with a particle beam rifle and sword in robot mode, while his animal mode beak is capable of tearing through a tank's armour. He forms Predaking's right arm.
HEADSTRONG
Headstrong is the arrogant member of the Predacons, never bothering to listen to the advice of others, because he is insecure in his abilities. Despite his failings, when he decides to do something, his commitment to it is unwavering. He resembles a rhinocerous in animal mode; his horn can puncture steel and release corrosive acid on contact. In robot mode, he is armed with a plasma-sphere shooter and a distraction sword in robot mode. He forms Predaking's right leg.
RAMPAGE
Rampage is uncontrollable - he storms through life leaving a trail of devastation in his wake. It is hard for him to control his emotions, and finds it difficult to even talk coherently for more than a few minutes. He has been known to lash out at his fellow Predacons without provocation. He resembles a tiger in animal mode, capable of leaping great distances and crumbling cinder block walls with one kick, also being equipped with four guns, one on each of his hips and shoulders. In robot mode, he is armed with a lighning rifle and a thermo-sword. He forms Predaking's left arm.
TANTRUM
Tantrum is prone to irrational fits of unexplained anger, and will lash out at anything that gets in his way, if the mood should strike him. In animal mode, he resembles a buffalo, with four exterior fuel tanks, one mounted above each leg. In this mode, his horns can generate bolts of electricity - an ability he can lose control over when he becomes angry, generally accompanied by jets of steam shooting out of his nostrils. In robot mode, he is armed with a catalytic carbine, and an electro-sword. He forms Predaking's left leg.
PREDAKING
At the time of his construction, Predaking was the strongest of all the gestalt Transformers. Gigantic in stature, the only Autobot capable of defeating him in battle was Sky Lynx. His strength is immense, and he reacts with animal instinct to any threat. He is equipped with an arm-mounted x-ray laser cannon, and has twin mortar launchers in each foot. He wields Razorclaw's sonic sword and can generate an destabiliasing electric field around himself.
Regardless of whether or not they were built by the Quintessons, the Predacons served Galvatron and the Decepticon cause well throughout 2006. They were among the Decepticons who participated in the great battle on Earth's moon, which led to them being among the Primitives who were gathered by Primacron's Assistant to battle Tornitron. At first, they were unwilling to work with the Dinobots, but after some gentle... 'persuasion'... by Sky Lynx and Trypticon they grudingly arranged a truce until Tornitron could be dealt with. As the Assistant explained the sotyr of Primacron, Unicron and Tornitron, Trypticon was attacked by Tornitron, and had his energy drained. The Primitives split up into separate groups, the Predacons sticking together and forming Predaking to try to battle the energy-leech. They fell almost immediately, their energy sapped. When Grimlock found Primacron's lab and reversed Tornitron's energy polarity, all the dranied energy was returned and Tornitron was destroyed. The Predacons, along with everyone else, were restored to life.
The last recorded appearance of the Predacons was when the Hate Plague was sweeping the universe. Althought not among the first Decepticon to succumb to it, the Predacons were quickly infected by other contaminated Decepticons. The only Decepticon who evaded infection for any length of time was Galvatron, as Cyclonus took over the Decepticons and ledthem in an attack against him. The Predacons combined into Predaking for the attack, but the infected Decepticons were soon repelled by Optimus Prime, who had been restored to life by a Quintesson in the hopes that he could stop the plague. Galvatron made a deal with Optimus, and led them underground on Charr to where he had kept a chache of a heat-resistant alloy that could protect Optimus from the effects of the plague. Galvatron was then infected by the plague, but the Autobots got the metal, and Optimus went on to open the Matrix and destroy the spores and the plague with them. If the Predacons had not already been destroyed by other rampaging infected indiviuals, then they would have been cured too. Their fate following the restoration of Cybertron's Golden Age is unknown.
