RATCHET AND WHEELJACK RATCHET AND WHEELJACK

These two Autobots are the mechanics of the group, always ready to rebuild and repair their damaged comrades. These two inventors also built the Dinobots together.

RATCHET

Ratchet was famed as the greatest surgeon on Cybertron. He dislikes fighting, as his main function is to keep his fellow Autobots in optimum function capacity. In respect of these feelings, Optimus Prime does not always use Ratchet in battle.
Ratchet merges with his emergency medical bay (which he commonly shunts into subspace, but occasionally has on standby (Ref: "More Than Meets The Eye")) when he transforms, to form the likeness of an Earthen ambulance. In robot mode, Ratchet can convert his right hand into a welding laser to perform reapirs when no other tools are available.
Ratchet served the Autobot cause well throughout the Great War, until the Earth year 2005, when he, Ironhide, Prowl and Brawn were piloting a shuttle to Earth to collect energy from Autobot City, when the Decepticons attacked. Brawn and Prowl were first to fall, then Ratchet was shot several times in the chest by Megatron, destroying his internal processor. He died even before he saw Ironhide fall.
Ratchet's remains were kept in the Autobot Mausoleum, until it was destroyed by the undead Optimus Prime, forever ending any chance of Ratchet being restored to life.

WHEELJACK

Wheeljack is the inventor of the Autobots. However, his inventions rarely work the way they are supposed to, often causing more trouble than they are worth.
Wheeljack can transform into the likeness of an Earthen Lancia sports car. He has no special abilities in this mode, other than his exceptional speed. In robot mode, he is armed with a shoulder-mounted magnetic inducer, capable of inhibiting transformation in others.
Wheeljack's many inventions include: Shock-blast Cannon (Ref: "Heavy Metal War"), Anti-Transfixation Grenade, (Ref: "The Autobot Run"), Dominator Discs (Ref: "The Core"), and more.
Wheeljack served Optimus Prime to the best of his ability, until he was killed alongside Windcharger by the Decepticons during the Autobot City Masacre of 2005.
