The Hudsons - A New Series for 2000 (Part III)
(Mar 99) The newest full series, The Hudson Series, will begin in March 2000 with Rain (see Parts I and II below). The second title in this series is Lightning Stikes, the third is Eye of the Storm, the fourth is End of the Rainbow.

A New Official V.C. Andrews Companion/Quiz Book
(Oct 99) We hear that there may be a new official VC Andrews Companion/Quiz Book in the works. Click here to see the E-mail transcript between Steven and the author of The V. C. Andrews Trivia and Quiz Book, Stephen Spignesi.

A New Miniseries in the Works for 2000
(Oct 99) Back in July, a friend of mine heard news from the ghostwriter that there will be another miniseries released in 2000. The ghostwriter has stressed that this new miniseries will be totally different from the Orphans and Wildflowers miniseries' that have already been released.

A New Series for Early 2000 (Part II)
(May/Aug 99) The newest full series, The Hudson (formerly Arnold) Series, will begin early in 2000 with Rain, previously refered to as Shadow (see Part I below). This new series is about a biracial girl on a quest for the truth about her heritage and herself. Rain will debut most likely in February 2000. The next two books in this new series will be Shower of Tears (July 2000) and Eye of the Storm (November 2000). This series will continue into early 2001.

Running Away to the Small Screen (Part II)
(Apr 99) There have been rumours about several television companies who want to make Runaways into a television series (see "Running Away to the Small Screen" below). In addition to the previously reported WB and MTV, we now hear that the USA Network is working on an afternoon soap opera based on the Orphans series.

Small Screen Gem (Part III) / Dawn of Motion Pictures (Part II)
(Feb 99) As many of you know, CBS was working on a television miniseries for Ruby. Production was halted due to conflicts between CBS and the production team. It was reported that in early January, the new script would be evaluated and if there is not much more revision to be done, they would finish production starting in early spring. However, it has now been said that CBS has cancelled production indefinitely. Currently, the story is being reviewed by other networks.

So, who really owns the production rights? We hear that the screen rights to Ruby have been bought by theater owner Phil Borak, who has also optioned the rights to Dawn (see "The Dawn of Motion Pictures" below). Jaffe/Braunstein Films has reported that they have the miniseries rights to Ruby, while CBS says they have also bought the rights to Dawn.

Logan Series Rumours
(Feb 99) Rumours have been floating around about a sixth installment of the Logan series which tells the story of Jacob, Chester, and Haille while they were growing up. There are no confirmations to this rumour as of yet, but when I hear more, I will post it here.

20th Anniversary of FITA
(Jan 99) There have been rumours about a special 20th anniversary version of Flowers in the Attic called "FITA20" (like last years' Halloween H20). This November, V.C. Andrews' debut novel will turn 20 years old, with nearly 75 editions in print.

A New Series for Late 1999/Early 2000 (Part I)
(Nov 98) As previously reported, a new series is scheduled to begin in November of 1999. The official V.C. Andrews website describes the new series as "The story of a biracial girl on a quest for the truth about her heritage and herself." For the URL of the Official V.C. Andrews website, visit the Web Links page. The title of the debut novel of this new series is Shadow.

The Newest V.C. Andrews Miniseries
(Nov 98) The newest miniseries to be released under the V.C. Andrews trademark will be called The Wildflowers. This series is about four girls from divorced and disfunctional families who meet at their therapist's office. This series will work much like the Orphans miniseries, beginning in July 1999, with the first four minibooks selling for $3.99. Look for Misty in July, Star in August, Jade in September, and Cat in October. The final novel, Into the Garden, will be released in November, and will have a list price of $7.99. I hear that this final installment has some wonderful surprises in store!

Running Away to the Small Screen
(Nov 98) My source tells me that the Ghostwriter is working with the television netlet WB about possibly turning Runaways into a series. The WB is the network that has been very successful in gaining younger television viewership with hits like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, 7th Heaven, and Dawson's Creek.

From the TV section of ZENtertainment (28 October 1998, Issue #261): "Sources tell ZEN that CBS has cancelled its planned miniseries adaptation of the V.C. Andrews book Ruby. However, the same source reports there are a rumors of a number of other Andrews adaptations in the works, including a possible MTV adaptation of Runaways, about four orphaned girls who escape from a foster home, and wind-up in the future when they see what fate has in store for them."

Binding the Orphans
(Nov 98) A new, combined paperback version of Butterfly, Crystal, Brooke, and Raven will be out in March under the title Orphans and will have a list price of $7.99.

Small Screen Gem (Part II)
(Sept 98) Many of you have asked about the Ruby miniseries that is mentioned further down on this page. CBS has cancelled production for the Ruby miniseries. Apparently, there was a dispute between one of the employees working on the project and those in charge. Those involved are currently scoping out other networks.

Title Correction
(Aug 98) The title of the last volume of the Logan series is no longer Muted Voices. The Official V.C. Andrews Website is now calling the novel Olivia. It is slated to be released January 1999.

MTV Orphans Promotion
(May 98) The Orphans series is being advertised on MTV. In the Butterfly commercial, a young girl with long, straight brown hair dances in slow motion in a pink leotard and tutu. It is assumed that each of the novels will have its own commercial.

The Orphans: A New Book Miniseries
Five new V.C. Andrews books are due to be published between May and October 1998. These five books are titled Butterfly, Crystal, Brooke, Raven, and Runaways. The first four "minibooks" will sell for the special price of $3.99, while the fifth book will sell for $7.99 retail. You can find these books in the Novels section under the Orphans Series.

The Dawn of Motion Pictures
"A theater owner named Phil Borak has optioned the rights to Dawn.... The contract, calling for a substantial upfront payment against a purchase price pegged to the size of the production budget, was negotiated by Joel Gotler of Renaissance in L.A. on behalf of N.Y. literary agent Anita Diamant." (From the article "No Booking Problem" by Paul Nathan. Publishers Weekly, 17 October 1994, v241 n42 p20.)

Small Screen Gem
"The five novels comprising the Ruby series from Pocket Books have been optioned by Jaffe/Braunstein Films for adaptation as a four-hour miniseries.... Bernie Weintraub of Paradigm in L.A. negotiated TV terms on behalf of Robin Rue of the Anita Diamant Agency." (From the article "For Andrews Fans." Publishers Weekly, 15 April 1996, v243 n16 p29.)
