Family Trees | Explanation | History | Adding Info | Inquiries
* I include this Latvian Glaser/Glasser family because there is strong reason to believe that they are related to the Lygumai GLASER family (see Aaron Glasser Families). During WWII, Raymond Cohen of Norfolk, stationed in Australia, walked into a "Glaser's Pawn Shop" or "Glasser Loan Office," curious because he was familiar with the Glasser family in Berkley/Norfolk (VA), which had its own "Glasser's Pawn Shop." A man (a Glasser), perhaps in his 30s, was in the store, and he introduced Raymond to a lady, perhaps the man's aunt, who said that she knew GLASSERs that settled in Norfolk/Berkley, as well as LEGUMs who settled there. The strong presumption, therefore, is that the families were related. Otherwise, it would be especially unusual that she would have known of those GLASSERs since they were from a different town and country.
Except for the descendants of "2" (Paul Glasser), the basic facts of this Glaser family come from a family tree constructed by Selma Schneider and her mother Anna Shine (daughter of Mary GLASER KALMANSON) about 1952. The data about the descendants of Paul Glasser come from Ian D. Glasser of Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia, a great grandson of Paul Glasser and grandson of David Glasser.
NOTE: Data on more recent (mostly living) descendants of 1. and 2. are available, but not presented here.
