- Counselor's Network 1-Bully Proofing Your School
Description: In the average elementary/middle school classroom, two to three
students spend their day afraid. They avoid the restroom, cafeteria, and/or

from violence, safe from humiliation, or safe from bullying. 'Bully Proofing'
is a preventative measure; a program designed to stop
bullying and ensure a safer school environment--one that does not tolerate
acts of physical or emotional aggression against children. Fee must accompany
registration form.

Overview: Treatment & Education of Autistic & Communication Handicapped
Children Description: This is an overview of the TEACCH program. TEACCH
cannot be reduced to a technique, not even to a set of techniques, not even
to a method. It is a complete program of services for people with autism
and other severe communication disorders, which makes use of several techniques,
depending on the individual's needs and emerging capabilities. The main
goal of TEACCH is to help students grow up to maximum autonomy at adult
age. This includes helping them understand the world that surrounds them,
acquiring communication skills that will enable them to relate to other
people and giving them competence to make choices concerning their lives.
The major thrust is toward improving communication skills. This session
is not meant for participants who will attend TEACCH team training on December
5 & 6. (See your district Special Education Director for details.)
