Callahan County, Texas Pictures

My purpose for building this picture site is to bring back memories to people that grew up in Callahan County. Kind alike a picture book. Set back in your comfortable chair and let the memories past before your eyes. Say "Oh yes I remember this place, I rode by it on the school bus or when my family went to town". Vicki Hargrove was at the Cottonwood Historical family meeting. She had an aerial picture of her homeplace that is no longer there. Vicki if you read this, I would like to have a copy for the Callahan site. We rode on the same bus to school together. So I pass her house for 12 years. I hope these pictures bring back some happy memories or amaze people on what Callahan look like at one time.

Cross Plains Lake On the back of the picture is written Cross Plains. I have been told that Cross Plains had two lakes. First lake is about two miles out of Cottonwood just off of FM 880. Second lake was toward Brownwood. This could be the second lake or it could be the first lake. The first lake had a concrete drain, per Jack Jones & Chuck Woody, they could of taken the picture leaving out the drain they said they recognize the surrounding area. - donated by Cross Plains Review
