Building the PegaStol Wings
Service Doors
The service doors come pre-assembled and primed. This is the little bit of extra effort Dedalius puts into their kits which makes the kit itself, outstanding.
However, I found them very hard to remove, once installed. Even installing them proved a little bit difficult if you are concerned about skinning or marring your paint.
I found removing them next to impossible. One guy told me to he would get his finger nails under the edges and was able to lift them for removal. He must have long tuff finger nails, I couldn't do it. I tried a putty knife. What a mess! Worked, but it would definitely messed up my paint.
So, here is my fix.
I installed speed nuts on the inside of each cover. The spring steel is a little hard to drill. Looks like this.
Then I made a small "T" handle to screw into the service door from the outside. Looks like this.
Removing the door is easy, just give it a quick pull. It will pop right out.
To install it without skinning the paint, put a piece of cardboard or plastic between the cover and the wing. Slide in one edge and off the cardboard. Like in the picture below, nothing to it.
And here is the installed cover.
