Full Name: Hades
Despite the fact that they slaughtered the myth, Disney did a great job with this character. The actual Hades was far less mean-spirited and greedy than Zeus, but even so, the character was terrific.
Hades made the movie. He...well, he was just so funny! It's amazing how, even with all of that stress, power, and responsibility, he still retains a sense of humor.
This all-powerful god has the entire underworld at his command. In effect, he has quite the dark atmosphere surrounding him, and, as you have probably inferred, I am really into the darkness and mystery thing. Heck, the MB deity I claimed was one of the Egyptian protectors of the dead (though nearly all of the gods had some connection with the after life. That's what I love about Egyptian mythology)
But this is about Greek mythology, not Egyptian. How can you not like this guy? And it's not even one of those "love to hate him" things, he's just a great character. But you certainly wouldn't want to cross him. He is definitely my favorite Disney movie villain. The only movie characters that come any where near as hilarious as Hades are Genie and Mushu. How could anyone not love his temper, his mood swings, his sense of humor, his skin color. I am so glad that they didn't make him red. Yes, blue was just perfect for him.
He reminds me a little of Steelbeak in his demeanor. He's got the same sense of humor and pretty much the same accent, though no where near as whiny a voice. And just about every other word is either "babe" or "okay". It's that "suave" attitude. I know, I know. Quit trying to make connections between characters, Robin. You're just wasting your breath and confusing yourself.
But I still wonder where Persephone was. Hades’ little wife was nowhere to be found when (excuse the expression) all Tartarus broke loose. Guess it must have been summer throughout the entire movie, as well as the series.
