Elgin Car Clock

        Below are photos of a 1922 Elgin car clock, essentially an 8 day pocket watch with two mainsprings. Many cars had Westclox timepieces at that time. This Elgin clock probably came from a more luxurious car, such as a Cadillac, Lincoln, Oldsmobile, or Buick. The 7 jewel escapement and several of the gears in the train are similar to those found in 16 size Elgin pocket watches.
