Part 4

The Black Pyramid glimmered as the lightning struck the four surrounding obelisks.  The main chamber glowed with the light from the purple cauldron. Even though it was daybreak and most of Third Earth was bright and sunny, this tomb was always dark and eerie.  The four statues that stood around the cauldron, even though they were made of stone, possessed sprits.  The spirits of the Ancient Spirits of Evil to be exact.  An ancient sarcophagus stood against the wall.  Sleeping at the foot of it was a blue dog that looked as if it had been decaying for many years.

The cauldron began to stir.  These actions awakened the dog.  He began to scratch at the coffin.  It began to open and Mumm-Ra stepped out.

"What is it Ma-Mutt, my horrible hound?" he asked.  Ma-Mutt pulled Mumm-Ra over to the cauldron by his bandages.  Mumm-Ra peered in and saw the man village.  There seemed to be a gathering in the middle of the village. Mumm-Ra smiled as he saw Kraiken was addressing the people.  He listened in on his words.

"My brothers," Kraiken began.  " The women have controlled us for too long. It is time for us to regain our power.  Last night, my ancestor, King Dimian, came to me.  He told me that it was time to take over the Maidens.  He has given me his powers to control fire, water, and electricity.  I must now assemble an army.  Who among you shall join me?!" He roared.

Some men immediately came forward.  They were sick and tired of being controlled.  The others looked a bit skeptical.

"Prove it!"  Came a drawling voice from the crowd.  The mass parted and a man of twenty-five years stepped forward.  He had flashing black eyes and wavy black hair.

"Helvian." Kraiken hissed softly.  Helvian was Kraiken's worst enemy.  They had despised each other since they had met.

"Prove it." Helvian repeated.

"Fine." Kraiken spat.  He closed his eyes and held his hands out in front of him.  The crest of Dimian that was on his chest began to glow.  His hands began to spark and electricity flew out of them.  The crowd gasped and backed away.  The electricity went out and fire erupted from his hands.  The group scrambled backwards.  The fire went out and water shot from his hands, soaking Helvian.  The men laughed and cheered.  Kraiken was tired and Rolan held his shoulders to steady him.

"Thanks." Kraiken breathed.

"No problem buddy." Rolan said.

Kraiken regained his strength and shouted to the crowd, "Now who shall join me?!"  Everyone cheered and came forward.

"My first order of business is to appoint generals," Kraiken continued.  "I will lead the ground troops.  Rolan, being the fastest will lead the scouts and the spies.  Riley will lead the archers in the treetops.  Finally, Tyron, being the strongest man, will lead the second wave of ground troops who will destroy the Maiden's village.  After we defeat the Maidens then we will conquer Third Earth!" He cried.

All the men cheered and began planning the attack.

Mumm-Ra cackled as he watched his plan unfold.  "No one can stop me," he laughed.  "Not even those wretched Thundercats."  His laughter echoed throughout the pyramid.  Ma-Mutt hid behind the sarcophagus as Mumm-Ra laughed manically.  It seemed as if the statues were laughing along with Mumm-Ra.

Ma-Mutt continued to whine.  His master always got like this.  'I wonder what is so funny.' Ma-Mutt thought.  He shrugged and settled down for a nap.  He dreamed of chasing Snarfs, his favorite activity.
