Enjoyed the song samples, especially He Gave it All Away. Your wind player's great, not to mention the other fine musicians in the band! Need a trumpet? Probably not. Your music seems beautiful and complete the way it is. May you succeed! Tommy |

I have ordered you CD, "Where Glass Birds Fly". I was just so impressed by the songs and lyrics. Your words touched my heart and spirit. I truly think you have a deep understanding of our future world. I placed my order on Friday July 16th. I think, when I placed the order I may have given you the wrong e-mail address. Do you confirm your order based on the e-mail address? Just in case you do I am sending my e-mail address to you again. ( rachgsuga@hotmail.......) I am anxious to receive your CD. If I need to do anything else please e-mail and I will respond. Thank you, Rach. |

Xyra, you're special. Your band is fine! Like the art work associated with the music! I am 30, but listen to older stuff and feel a 70s thing happening with some of your songs. You have your own style, though - different from anything I remember hearing - 'cept in my head, in the woods, on the beach at night or by a fire while it's snowing. I'll be back. Please add me to your mailing list and write me if you want. Bob |

Are you playing there again? They never have bands, I hear, but everybody dug ya. Put me on your mailing list, so I can know your itinerary. I'll definitely come see you guys again! Bonn |

Dear Xyra and band, You are a CLASS act! (Like your vocals with the instrumental line up a lot!) Maily wanted to contact you about the show at JAXX the other night. We were there to see you late, about 8:45 but thought you were playing for an hour. Any idea why the sound guy cut your set? Read the review on the Phantasmagoria show, by Sarah Elkins, and really wanted to hear you. People are saying you do great Nico, Dietrich and Bryan Ferry songs. Very exciting, but we didn't get to hear any. Also had the impression you and the other bands were not well suited. Look forward to upcoming shows we can attend. Especially Blues Alley, since you are doing two sets! Donald van Ares |

Just surfed in and love your website! Your music is intriguing and refreshing! Often, band's song samples are disappointing -- not yours! (On occasion, I cruise through Mp3.) Do you ever get to NYC? There are a lot of options, here -- don't know exactly where you would play, but Wetlands comes to mind. They are huge, but you may not be Alternative enough for them. Your sound is quite refined, so I would strongly suggest having your management team look into the higher class venues. Are you signed? Guess not, if you are selling on IUMA. You need to tour, if you are not already! My impression is that this music could catch on, especially with a crowd over 25 or 30. Let me know if you'd like some suggestions. I will email you with any ideas I might have. Sincerely, Jeremy |

Hello, Xyra and Verborgen! (I read your News page.) It is encouraging that your band and others are supporting The Red Cross Kosovo Relief Fund, and SOME (So Others Might Eat). More events like these need to happen. It is my understanding that music events to aid Kosovo refugees are taking place in 33 US cites, according to the Spiral Music website. Again, more events need scheduling. Good you are also doing a benefit party, at Cafe Myth, in Washington DC. Looks like US citizens are being forced to clean up the mess our tax dollars are funding. Besides writing Congress, what else can be done? Your fellow musicians deserve further applause for trying to counteract the negative energies being generated in this world today! Keep up the music, and the effort! Patrice |

Dear Xyra -&- Verborgen - Please put us on your mailing list! Members of my experiemental music project told me about your site and music. Someone heard you on NPR, months ago and later saw the CD at Tower in Tysons. We typed "xyra" in a search engine and found Cabaret Rock Nouveau. Is that another name for you? It must be your genre. In any event, we like your sound, and the website is killer, too! What's the release date for your new CD? You say summer. We would like to find it when it comes out. A suggestion: Make your IUMA-based music more evident on the site. Those tunes are complete and brilliant! We travel, but will try to see you at JAXX, 6 May. Warm wishes! Remy, of Capri |

Hi OK, so when are you playing Jaxx again? I hear you were really hot! Nobody gets much of a crowd there anymore. People tell me you guys need a set up that's really pro! Jaxx offers really great lighting and sound, when they chose to do it up right. I have mellowed and like Progressive, Space and Ambient. Will try to make the gig at Phantaz, March 18! Timothy Bleiz |

The rest - (There was more!) Postcards in the Rain is a wonderful piece, from the Glass Birds CD, as are Train to Paris and Ice in Stone, in my opinion. Unfortunately, those song samples were not placed on the IUMA site! (Riding the Dragonfly sold me, but it was Xyra's voice that first captured my attention!) I encourage others to BUY THIS ALBUM from IUMA, as it is an opportunity to promote important new music! I await eagerly, Xyra -&- Verborgen’s next release: Frightening Beauty! May the band find terrific opportunities to be heard! Yours, Albany |

Ther was more! Perhaps the music conferences and festivals in other cities are a start – if one’s band gets voted in by THAT establishment.) After going to the band's home site (Cabaret Rock Nouveau – Xyra -&- Verborgen) I learned of their upcoming release: Frightening Beauty! WHAT an interesting title! Their first title, Where Glass Birds Fly, is duly provocative, as well. From reading the liner notes of the current CD, I noted the depth and seriousness, accompanied but really top-notch musicianship and production. Xyra's lyrics are profound in some places, and deeply visual. Glass Birds are not birds one finds in a glass menagerie, rather, it seems they represent the physical vulnerability of all life. One gets the uncompromising feeling that this group cares about more than fame and what goes along with it. Perhaps, it is the opportunity to make a difference in the world that drives them on, but the instrumentation and vocals, alone, stand enough to fully satisfy. P |

(Another gent originally posted to IUMA) Sharing my thoughts . . . Besides loving to read and paint in my spare time, I do enjoy the net, and finding excellent, unusual music. When I want excellent music, I sometimes do not know where to look. One cannot rely at all on radio anymore - except for non-commercial stations! There are few outlets, even music venues readily available for excellent, unsigned bands. Unless one lives in London, New York, Paris, Berlin, or another artists' mecca - WHERE CAN THE GOOD SOUNDS BE FOUND? IUMA is a start, as that is where I found this band, fronted (apparently) by the lovely chanteuse (on the cover?) - Xyra. I was surprised to read that Xyra and Verborgen reside in Virginia, before I realized they are very close to Washington, DC. Perhaps they will be discovered there! Somehow, however, I would doubt this. I also read that many bands have left Washington, in order to be heard by "the right people"! Too bad . . . and I wonder why? |

Intriguing! This band seems to be carrying music in a direction musicians have been trying to pull it for a number of years now. This music of the future drawn from various fine elements of the past. It is to be hoped that with Xyra's vocals (reminiscent of Nico's depth and Piaf's emotion) and the fine musicianship of the band, Xyra and Verborgen will go far! Best to them! John P.S. I wanted to post this in the new guest book. Originally I posted it at IUMA but few seem to add their comments there. |
