"Afghans for Angels" is a non-profit organization made up completely of volunteers who make and deliver baby blankets to local hospitals to give to parents who have suffered the loss of their infant through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.
Our "Afghans for Angels" are placed lovingly around these infant Angels when they are held by their families for the brief time in which bittersweet hellos and sad good-byes are said. The parents are then allowed to keep these afghans as a token of rememberance of their baby. Just having something soft to hold is comforting for the parents.
Through our sources, we have learned that these grieving parents are touched by the fact that people they have never met, cared enough to make something so beautiful and special for them and their little Angel. It is our belief that ANYTHING that can be done to help these families, should be done.
How You Can Help:
"Afghans for Angels" is looking for volunteers to help create these blanket gifts. Blankets only need to be 2 foot square. Smaller and larger sizes are accepted also! These loving blankets will hug Angels from Preemies up to Full Term. If you can: crochet, knit, sew, quilt, or decorate purchased blankets, we would LOVE to have your help! Any donations of yarn in baby colors (Sport Weight and/or 4 Ply Weight) or soft quilting material to make these blankets would be greatly appreciated. Please send blankets and any donations to:
