MICHAEL JOSEPHUS C. KINTANAR

Ike Kintanar started indulging on painting and photography as a hobby. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, he was recruited to be one of the resident artists of Galeria de Iligan in 1987. Since then, he was involved on several visual arts activities in the city. He had participated on several group exhibits in Iligan, Manila, Dumaguete & Davao. Represented the Iligan artists on some NCCA initiated undertakings such as: the 1st National Visual Arts Congress ("Pagtatagpo") in UP Diliman and the 1st Regional Consultative Meeting ("Sungdu-an") in Davao City.

Essentially a self-taught artist, his favorite media is pastel crayon. His subjects touch on human interests and social realism.

"I enjoy the benefits in the process of making my artwork - the insights of life, becoming open-minded and perceptiveness to human nature. Since doing my artwork takes a lot of my family time, I encourage my wife and kids to 'join-in', which makes us more closer…."
