Guiding Light
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto

          I can't say that life isn't hard,
But someone is seeing me through.
I want to give all that thanks I can,
I owe it all to you.

          Sometime the nights get darker
          And the days longer,
          I wouldn't be here now,
If you didn't help me get stronger.

          When I hit the crossroads
And I don't know where to go,
You point me in the right direction,
The correct path - you always know.

Hurting from broken heart of broken bone,
          You help me heal.
          Thank you lord,
          For keeping it real.

I may occasionally fail one of your tests,
But I know it's all in your plan.
How gracious you are - to let me learn from my mistakes.
If only I could simpl say - "You are the man!"

But you are not a simple man,
You are a being much higher.
Not only do you give us life
You decide when we must expire.

          Thank you for teaching me
          To distinguish wrong from right.
I owe you so much already,
          For being my guiding light.

Perhaps this isn't my best work...but it's appropriate.
