The Way It Goes
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto

It's hard for her to sit idely by
As she watches you destroy yourself.
It took her so long to finally confess
The feelings she kept deep inside.
     Where are you now
And what stupid things are you doing?
     I know one thing...
     You're pushing her away.
She called me up on the telephone.
That's weird 'cause she's your friend - not mine.
I had to sit thru her talking about you
But that slowly turned into crying.
I didn't know that she felt you this much.
Her heart was damn near exploding
And I couldn't think of a thing to say.
I didn't want to seem cold,
So I did the only thing I could.
I told her she could do much better than you.
Now she's steady blowin' up my phone.
     Sorry...
     She forgot all about you.
