I-74   Coming Attraction
I-74: Proposed interstate extension from Cincinnati OH to South Carolina. In Virginia, I-74 has not reached the point of discussion.
In Virginia, I-74 is theoretically already finished, as it would likely multiplex with I-77 for its entire Virginia mileage. Thus, while I-74 does not exist, it is already finished.
North Carolina does sign I-74 on I-77 from the Virginia border to the I-74/77 split near Mt. Airy, NC. Additionally, I-74 sections exist in the Asheboro and Maxton, NC regions. West Virginia has not built any freeway portions of its theoretical route (along US 52) although multilane improvements are being made.
Presumably, I-74 will not be signed in Virginia until West Virginia's portion exists.
