Exciting Plans for the Upcoming 64th Smith-Foster Reunion

Don't Miss It!  August 1-3, 2003 * Martinsville, Virginia

The Executive Committee has been working hard planning an exciting and somewhat different weekend for this year's reunion.  The reunion will be held in Martinsville, Virginia from Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3, 2003.  Highlights of the planned activities include the following:

  • Friday Night

        Pool party and light dinner at the Best Western, Martinsville.  A theme will be announced in the next newsletter.

  • Saturday (day)

        Enjoy various activities at the renowned Smith Mountain Lake that include golfing, boat rental, swimming, fishing, hiking, wineries, antiques shops, etc.  This picturesque, man-made lake is only an hour away from Martinsville, and you will have most of the day to enjoy this spectacular lake at your leisure.  See www.smithmountainlake.com for more exciting details.

  • Saturday (evening)

        Dinner cruise on the The Virginia Dare, an exclusive and private boat tour of Smith Mountain Lake.  Enjoy an early dinner and the lake's beautiful scenery from this luxurious 19th century side-wheeler cruise ship.  See www.vadarecruises.com for a peek at the ship and to find out other information about the cruise.

  • Saturday (night)

        Optional activities include:  bowling for our young people, old fashion bid wiz/social, and dominoes for the adults; or, just simply relax for the rest of the evening.

  • Sunday

        Worship service and catered dinner at the Preston Community Center.

        Business Meeting--Elections of new officers and planning for the 65th reunion.

Lodging Twenty rooms have been reserved at the Best Western in Martinsville for a special rate of $59 + tax.  Please contact the Best Western at (276) 632-5611 no later than July 1, 2002 to receive this special rate.  Ask for the Smith-Foster Family Reunion to ensure you receive this discount.
Activity Fees Estimated cost for this entire fun-filled weekend (pool party with light dinner, dinner cruise, catered Sunday dinner, and quality time with family and friends) will be between $40-$50 per adult.  The cost for children ages 3-12 will remain at $15 per child, which has remained constant for the last three years!  In order to keep the adult activity fee as close to the minimum of $40 as possible, we need at least 25 families to pay their annual dues of $60!  Any family that pays before July 1 will receive a $5 discount that will be applied against one adult activity fee.

RSVP In order to plan for catering services, we need everyone to RSVP by July 1 if you plan to attend.  This is imperative in helping us give an accurate count to the caterers which results in a cost-savings to the reunion.
65th & 66th
