Evidence from Chinese paintings show hybrid roses as early as the 10th century in China. In the 18th century, China Roses were being imported to Europe in large quantities. The China class is generally regarded as the group that introduced the repeat blooming quality to roses, mainly through hybrids from 'Old Blush', aka 'Parson's Pink China' and R. semperflorens, aka 'Bengal Rose' or 'Slater's Crimson China'. Many lack fragrance and have a looser bloom form than the old European roses.
