The 'Autumn Damask' rose was the first repeat blooming rose brought to Europe. Its European arrival was during the 12th to 13th century via the Crusaders coming from the Middle East. It was used for perfumes and medicinally. Damasks have soft textured, gray foliage on thorny plants. They are known to be very fragrant.
