~*~ Can’t Wait Any Longer ~*~
Tabitha found Andi hidden in a far corner of the library. "Ready to go?"
Andi stretched and looked at the clock. "God, is it five already? I need
sleep."
"That’s what you get for spending all weekend with ‘Lover Boy’," teased Tabitha as she helped Andi gather her stuff.
"You’re just jealous," shot Andi sticking her tongue out at her best friend.
"HELL YEAH I’m jealous."
The two girls giggled but were quickly silenced by the stern librarian making her way through the shelves. They tried to get serious but broke out into a fit of giggles as they made their way up the stairs and out of the library. As usual, their conversation was about classes, their friends, but now it included Alex.
As they neared the parking lot, a commotion caught their attention. There was a crowd of girls, mostly freshman, surrounding a guy wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses and they were shoving pieces of paper in his face.
Andi quickly recognized AJ and smiled as Tabitha asked, "Who is that guy and
why are those girls making such a fuss over him?"
"And you call yourself a fan. You nut, that’s Alex."
"OH MY GOD!" screeched Tabitha unable to go any further.
Andi grabbed her hand, "Would you come on and stop acting like them?"
AJ looked up as Andi and Tabitha approached the outside of the circle and smiled, "Okay, ladies…I’ve gotta go."
A collective moan of disappointment rumbled through the girls as they dispersed making room for Andi and Tabitha to get to AJ. The last girl who had been standing next to AJ handed him a bouquet of flowers before she left.
Handing them to Andi now, he said almost shyly, "These are for you, beautiful."
"These are so beautiful. Thank you," said Andi as she gave him a kiss. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to surprise you," replied AJ as he took her backpack and tossed it into his car. "I’ve missed you."
Andi blushed, "Really?"
"Yep. So, is this Tabitha?"
Andi had been so lost in AJ’s voice and the way he suddenly became shy that she’d forgotten Tabitha was there. "I’m sorry. Tabitha, meet Alex."
AJ took Tabitha’s hand in his kissing the back of it. "Nice to meet you."
Tabitha practically melted as she stuttered, "Nice to meet you."
AJ let go of her hand and put his arm around Andi.
"What’s up with the hat and glasses? Trying to be flashy and showy?" asked Andi as she took the hat and put it on herself.
"Semi-disguise."
"Didn’t work," teased Andi as she pulled the glasses down to see his eyes.
"I noticed. Wonder what gave me away?"
Tabitha had been frozen watching the way Andi and AJ interacted. Now having regained her composure, she offered, "Probably the tats."
"She SPEAKS!" teased Andi. Then to AJ, "She’s a fan."
"Really?" questioned AJ cocking his eyebrow as he looked over the sunglasses.
"So are you the reason Andi has at least heard of me?"
"Probably," laughed Tabitha.
"I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to suffer through, what’s that song? Something about playing games."
"You mean ‘Quit Playing Games’," corrected Tabitha testily. "And don’t EVEN pretend to not like it. YOU are the one who bugs ME to play it."
AJ laughed, ‘The truth comes out. I’ll have to find a way to thank you."
"Introduce her to Nick and she’ll be your slave for life."
"I’ll see what I can do. Andi, are you ready to go? I made dinner
reservations for seven."
"Reservations? Alex, I need to study."
"And you need to eat too."
"Why can’t you just cook for me?"
"I didn’t have time to go shopping for food."
"I’m ready."
"Tabitha, it was nice meeting you and we’ll see you later."
"You two have fun and Andi, don’t forget to call me later."
"I won’t."
The couple watched Tabitha head to her car before climbing into AJ’s. Before taking off though, AJ leaned to her, wrapped his fingers in her hair, and pulled her to him for a searing kiss.
"Do NOT ever leave me like you did this morning," he scolded.
Andi smiled, "I’m sorry but you looked so sweet and innocent. Forgive me?"
"Uh huh…you can make it up to me tonight. You’re evening awaits you, my beautiful lady."
