Dark Memory is a band comprised of five young men from Springfield, MA. They met in high school, where they formed the earliest incarnation of the band, featuring Ryan Berthiaume on vocals, Drew Carroll on lead guitar, Mike Wayner on rhythm guitar, Rick Voisine on bass and Bob Zuchara on drums. They played several gigs at high school parties, the late Gabby's in Westfield  and most notably, the Holyoke Catholic Battle of the bands. The first interactions with other bands included Revolver and Nameless Fear amongst others. The culmination of this time resulted in a 5-song basement tape, referred to as the "413 Demo".

After some time, a disagreement arose between Mike Wayner and the other members of the band, and it was decided they should part ways. Mike later went on to join the metal band Invictus. After a few auditions and a disappointing summer, the band tapped Dave Feeley to fill the rhythm guitar spot in August 2000. After some time (and hazing), the group begin to feel like a band again, after trudging through multiple practice spaces and marathon practices, DM took a shot at making an album and playing out more, resulting in their first gig at Pearl Street, and the album "413."

The band began playing at Pearl Street regularly, and moved into the Soundwave Recording Studios in downtown Springfield to start work on 413. The album was released on April 13th, 2002. The collection of songs defined the bands persona as a hard edged, unforgiving metal group. The studio was less than desirable, resulting in a very lo-fi sound for the album. The year was rounded out with a series of shows in the western MA area. The tension of this era resulted in a self-imposed hiatus for the band. In 2003, Bob signed up for the Air Force National Guard, leaving many questioning the future of the band.

The remaining members took this time to begin working on new material for when Bob returned. In the spring of 2004, after reuniting with Bob, the band began work on the new album which would redefine them; Where Once Things Grew. During this time the band resumed live gigs, to find a newly revitalized metal scene boasting such bands as Invictus, Metachromatic, Mortal Terror, KillReign, Iron Corps, and Vengeance amongst others. Locking themselves away in Slaughterhouse Studios, working with engineer Jon Trisinski, Dark Memory finished work on Where Once Things Grew. Now ready to embark on a new stage in their career, DM looks to break new ground in the western MA scene, and beyond.

"And you all knew this day would come...I will not falter, I will not fall."
