Luna's eyes flickered open. She surprisingly saw a wide - awake Usagi.
"I'm going to be spending the day with Mamoru," she said through a full
mouth. "He called earlier, but I didn't want to wake you up."
Luna was still thinking of Artemis. She pushed those thoughts aside for
the moment. "Okay, but be careful." After she said this, she realized
how truly paranoid it seemed, seeing as how Usagi would be with Mamoru.
"I will," Usagi replied anyway, and bolted from the room. She had left
her locket behind.
"Stupid girl," Luna muttered, picking up the locket and chasing after
Usagi.
After she got outside, she continued her chase, though it was now
hopeless. She rounded a corner when suddenly...
WHACK!
Luna dropped the locket unknowingly, for she had run straight into
Artemis.
"Luna…" Artemis said, in a voice filled with emotion. She couldn't
place the emotion. " I was just coming to see you."
Luna's heart started to beat harder. "So we did have the same dream?" asked Artemis.
"It seems so," replied Luna. She suddenly gasped, looking down at
Usagi's locket.
"Luna what is it?"
"Usagi- she's in trouble!"
Tuxedo Kamen instinctively pushed Usagi behind him as they were
attacked. Usagi let out a strangled yelp as the blast pushed them up
against a wall.
"Venus Love Me Chain!" Sailor Venus shouted. The enemy remained unhurt.
"Why… won't… you… die!" Tuxedo Kamen screamed as he threw a handful of
roses at the youma.
The youma threw a powerful blast of energy, hitting Sailor Venus head
on. She screamed as she was thrown to the ground.
Luna and Artemis ran up behind Usagi, just as the youma threw another
attack. Luna, Artemis, Tuxedo Kamen, and Usagi were all thrown against
the side of a building. Usagi's locket fell from Luna's mouth, jarred
by the sudden impact.
"Usagi! Take your locket and transform!" Artemis yelled, as he
recovered.
Usagi grabbed her locket and henshined.
"Rei, what's wrong?" asked Makoto, sipping her milkshake.
"I-I- I think Usagi-chan's in trouble…" came her strangled reply.
"Again?!?!" Asked Makoto, almost choking.
"We have to get Ami-chan and go help her," Rei said, standing up.
"But Ami-chan's at some kind of lesson or something."
"Then it's just you and me, Mako-chan."
Sailor Moon, the cats and Sailor Venus had been knocked unconscious,
and Tuxedo Kamen was struggling to protect them and dodge the youma's
attacks. He screamed as he was thrown to the ground once more. The
youma was getting ready to throw an attack at Sailor Moon, when Sailor
Mars and Jupiter appeared.
"Aku Rio Tai San!" Sailor Mars screamed, attacking the youma.
The youma squealed, though unhurt by the attack.
"Mercury Bubbles Blast!" Sailor Mercury attacked as she stepped onto
the scene. She began furiously typing on her mini computer as the youma
was temporarily blinded. Luna awoke, remembering the same dream that she had the previous night.
The only difference was that it ended before Artemis became Usagi.
"Artemis…" she whispered to herself. She glanced over at the digital
clock and sighed. She pounced on Usagi to wake her up, but found she
had already left.
"Early?" she said, extremely surprised. "Not like her…."
Luna found her thoughts suddenly drifting to Artemis. She saw his soft,
white fur. His smooth yet comical expression. She knew she had to be
with him forever.
Luna felt the bed shake slightly. She looked up, curiously.
"Artemis?" she said this with such hopefulness in her voice.
"Luna, we need to talk," was his calm reply. " About us- about our
dream."
Luna nodded. "Hai. But there's some much meaning to it, where do we
start?"
"The end," Artemis seemed more than sure of this. "What did I need to
tell you?"
Luna shrugged, then pondered this thought.
"It might have been important, but we have no way of knowing what it
was," Artemis' voice was filled with worry and concern. Worry and
concern for Luna's wellbeing.
"I guess we just let nature take its course."
Usagi was, surprisingly, early for school. In fact, she was the first
person there. Umino walked in the open classroom door and nearly
fainted.
"Usagi?! What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't sleep," was her quiet reply.
"You not able to sleep!?!?!?!" Now Umino was really becoming scared.
"Oh, very funny," Usagi said, yawning.
At this point the classroom had begun to fill with students, all
chattering about some robbery.
"Did you hear?" said one girl.
"Yeah, a store was robbed and FIVE men were killed."
"No kidding!"
"Class! Class! Quiet down," screamed Sensei Haruna as she walked in.
"now I'm sure you've all heard about the robbery. The police have been
informed there was a note. I copied it because I know my class just
loves juicy gossip! All right, here goes.
Rei was reading the fire, but she already knew what was going to happen
that night. She sighed as she realized this fight would take all of her
strength.
Minako was having trouble concentrating on the sensei. Instead she was
thinking of the battle that was to take place that night. She sighed,
realizing how truly hard it would be on her and the other senshi.
Makoto couldn't eat, even though she'd brought a big enough lunch. She
was too frightened about the battle the senshi were about to have. She
sighed as she threw her lunch away.
Mamoru tried hard not to think about what was happening that night, but
it didn't work. He sighed as he remembered what state Usagi had been in
the previous night.
Usagi was crying to hard to think straight. She tried as hard as she
could to calm down and think reasonably. All she could think of was the
battle and how frightened she was of her unknown enemy.
Hours had passed, and it was now near midnight. Luna and Artemis had
been the first to the station, and had spent some time discussing their
feelings of the battle. Surprisingly, everyone else arrived at the same
time. They all henshined, and were starting to move deeper within the
underground tunnel. Sailor Moon was trembling, but managed to gather
enough strength to go on. All of the senshi were watching for any
movement.
Suddenly, they all turned as they heard laughing. "Hello, hello! If I
isn't the Sailor Moon and her pals. I was beginning to think you
weren't coming! Let me introduce myself. I am Pegmatite, and you, my
friends are going to die. That is, if you don't give me the
ginzuishou."
"You'll never get the ginzuishou! We'd sooner die than just give it
up!" Sailor Moon shouted at Pegmatite.
"Very well then," Pegmatite answered, then began to gather energy. "Say
goodbye!"
The powerful wall of energy was dodged, the senshi scattering in
different directions to dodge it.
"Think you can kill us that easily?" Sailor Venus whipped out her
chain. "Venus Love Me Chain!"
Pegmatite laughed as he caught the chain, and whipped it back at Venus,
knocking her unconscious. He threw another wall of energy, which was
dodged by everyone.
"I won't let you win! Akuryo Taisan!"
Pegmatite laughed as he easily dodged Sailor Mars' attack, and in
return threw a ball of energy, which hit her head on. Sailor Mars was
now unconscious.
"No! Mars! Venus!" Sailor Moon was even more frightened by Pegmatite's
power.
"Sailor Moon stay calm! I'll give it a go! Aqua Shine Illusion!"
Pegmatite laughed, and blasted Mercury's attack back at her. Now Sailor
Mercury had been knocked out.
"I won't let you do this! Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
Pegmatite laughed, and threw Jupiter's power back at her. "Is that all
you've got?"
Sailor Moon trembled and began to sob, but she heard someone come in
from behind. Another wall of power washed through the tunnel, everyone
just managing to dodge.
"Dead Scream!" Sailor Pluto screamed, stepping into the tunnel.
Pegmatite laughed, and turned Pluto's power on her.
Tuxedo Kamen extended his cane, but was hit by Pegmatite's power.
A human Luna and Artemis stepped onto the scene. But it was too late.
Sailor Moon had managed to hit Pegmatite with all she had, leaving him
dying. All of the senshi's attacks hit him from when he had dodged them
or turned them. As a finale, Pegmatite threw to balls of energy, one at
Sailor Moon, and the other at Luna. They were too quick to dodge, and
only Artemis was left. His mind was swirling. He was torn between
saving his love, and saving the princess. He knew what he had to do,
but as if answering his prayers, just as he grabbed Luna, Tuxedo Kamen
managed to throw Sailor Moon out of the way.
"Shoot for the youma's right arm!"
Tuxedo Kamen threw a rose, and it landed in the youma's arm. A painful
squeal was heard as the youma fell.
"The youmas are getting too powerful for us," commented Makoto, as she
sat down on Usagi's bed.
"I-I'm sorry," said Usagi looking down.
"For what?" asked Minako
"I-I almost got you killed…" she replied.
"That's true, you should try to remember your locket," Artemis said
quietly.
Usagi sniffed, not looking up.
"We should be more cautious, now that the youmas are becoming so
powerful," Luna advised.
Mamoru leaned up against a wall. "Hai," he agreed. He sighed, looking
down at Usagi, who cried silently.
To Sailor Moon and her fellow senshi,
I know your out there, somewhere. If you hear this note, good. No more
robberies will occur if you give me the ginzuishou. If not, more people
will be 'killed.' Meet me at the subway station tomorrow night at
midnight to present me with the ginzuishou.
A friend
After this, the reporter said that authorities will be checking it
out." Everyone gasped and began chattering again. Usagi looked
horrified and knew she had to inform Luna.
"Class, that's enough! Now take out your math books and turn to page…"
"Luna! Luna!" Usagi screamed as she entered her room. Luna however was
not there. Usagi, without hesitation picked up her phone and dialed
Mamoru's number.
"Hello?" Mamoru greeted.
"M - Mamo-chan? I-I…" Usagi's voice was terror-stricken and she
couldn't stop the tears flowing from her eyes.
"Usako? What's wrong?"
"The-the note…. It… it said that we had to…" Usagi broke off crying.
Mamoru, now overly concerned, said, "Usako, I'm going to come to your
house. Just hold on, and I'll be right there."
About 2 or 3 minutes later, a knock was heard on the door to Usagi's
room.
"Y-yes?" her reply was strangled by her sobs.
"Usako?" Mamoru's voice came from behind the door.
"Come in Mamo-chan," her voice was anything but calm.
Mamoru opened the door and walked in. He gently pulled Usagi up, and
she buried her face in his chest. After she had calmed down enough to
talk, Usagi sat on the edge of the bed and Mamoru sat beside her.
"Mamo-chan, I'm so scared. That robbery - with the killings and all -
is somehow tied to the Dark Kingdom."
"But hoe do you know?" Mamoru's reply was gentle, almost soothing.
"Se-Sensei Haruna read a note that was supposedly found in the store
where the robbery occurred. It-it s-said something about the senshi and
I giving up the ginzuishou. At-at the subway st-station tomorrow night
at midnight…" Usagi broke off, lightly sobbing.
Mamoru sighed. "I see. We must tell the other senshi."
Luna and Artemis were sitting on Minako's bed, still discussing their
dream.
"I still don't understand it-" Luna began, but was cut off by Minako
walking into the room.
"Hi guys, I was at Rei's temple when we got some big news from
Mamoru-san," she said, sitting beside the cats. "He said we need to be
at the subway station tomorrow night at midnight, for some major fight
or something." Minako left, after finishing her sentence.
Luna and Artemis looked at each other, knowingly.
"The dream is about to take its course," said Artemis.
Sure enough, Luna had the same dream as the night before. She sighed,
knowing that she would soon find the meaning. Usagi had skipped school
because she had been too hysterical. Luna knew this would be the
hardest fight the senshi had ever fought.
Artemis could not distract his thoughts from Luna and the battle that
was to be fought. He sighed as he remembered his dream.
Ami tried hard to concentrate on her studies, but her mind kept
wondering to the fight. She sighed, and shifted uncomfortably. She knew
this would be one of the toughest fights for all of the senshi.
Luna sat in a dark alley, only she was bathed in moonlight. She sat
thinking, though her thoughts weren't clear. A crash sounded in the
distance, but Luna was unafraid. The injured party had been treated,
and only her and Artemis were left. Suddenly, his white figure appeared
down the alley.
"Artemis?" Luna asked, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Luna…" Luna felt a warmth spread throughout her body. "Your -
alright."
Luna knew what he was speaking of. "Thanks to you."
Artemis smiled warmly, then strode up to Luna so that they stood face
to face. She could feel his warm breath on her fur. "My love. My one
true love," he whispered softly, gently.
The two engaged in a kiss. Suddenly, they were no longer cats, but
humans. Artemis sighed as they broke the kiss. "There's something I
have to tell you, and it isn't pleasant," Artemis said, looking down.
"But you must listen closely," Somehow, he said this with the same
warmth in his voice. Though Luna was frightened, she still felt
comfortable. Artemis let his arms drop. He took in a deep breath "I now
know what I had to tell you - in the dream. Queen Serenity ordered us
to always think of the senshi first, not us or our love. I-I disobeyed
her- but I could never have let you die… Luna as much love as I feel
for you, I don't think we can be together. I don't want anything to
happen to you, but I don't think we were meant to be together… Luna…
I'm sorry." Artemis left Luna crying in the moonlight portion of the
alley.
